Has anyone played Uncharted 4?
I am well on the way to finishing this game and have really enjoyed it. It is possibly the prettiest game I have ever seen and the mechanics have been refined really well. It is also huge and gives you plenty of room to explore. The story telling is very good, but it's slower and less of a popcorn, pulp action game. I look forward to just watching the scenes when I finish as a film.
The only downside for me was that I didn't feel I was playing an Uncharted game sometimes. The slower pace was fantastic for The Last of Us, but Uncharted is meant to be about set pieces and having a stirring plot. There was a reason for the slow pace in The Last of Us as it was a minimalist survival game. Uncharted is meant to be more gung ho and just flat out exciting. It has exciting moments, but they are fewer and farther between. Maybe it just seems that way because it's so big and you find yourself analysing mud splatters and exploring for treasure. I'm not sure.
I was just wondering if anyone has played this and what they think. The reviews have been excellent, but I understand some users have been moaning about it being a bit dull. I have had moments of doubt, but it does pick up in the second half. It is just so big though and that is a strange thing to consider a negative. They have given great value for money in this one. Uncharted 3 seemed a big short changed with some very short chapters, but this is just big, big, big.

Here's a little bit of the Madagascar sequence that is not only beautiful, but really exciting to play. Not all the game is like that though.
For me it is:
Uncharted 2 (perfect action sequences, superb story, best game ever)
Uncharted 4 (beautiful to look at, great story, just a little bit too slow at times)
Uncharted 3 (good back story, great set pieces, just a little rushed in places)
Uncharted 1 (really good game, but just a bit dated now)

I can understand that point of view. My wife won't go near a computer game either and that's fair enough. Some people just prefer different things. For me, I enjoy the immersion, adventure, and really good story telling of this series.
I have to be careful with the games I choose though as some are really silly and can take hours of a limited life. The reviewers are either geeks or liars sometimes. I played MGS 5 recently and thought the story was stupid and the game repetitive but I had to at least complete the main missions having bought it. The reviewers were full of it with 'masterpiece this' and 'masterpiece that'. Looking at something like that I can understand why some might hate games. I like games, but that drove me up the wall. I didn't care about any of the characters or what I was doing.
Uncharted though is just really fun, pulpy Indiana Jones storytelling and the games easily compare with the plot development in those kinds of films. I don't really watch any films these days as they have become like computer games of old with the CGI and lack of plot development.

With Uncharted it's probably the gameplay, graphics and storytelling in unison. Just very fun to play. It's just a really solid game series. This game isn't as fun as the previous ones, but is the best looking. If you ever want to try a game, give Uncharted 2 a shot. That was the one that really got me interested in games again.

Computer games are for the unwashed masses. Following one another around maps like sheep ;D
