Earlier today the old boy (in boxing terms) pulled off a big upset by forcing Hugo Ruiz to quit at the end of the 9th taking his WBC superbantam title. Makes him a three weight champ for what it's worth.
Only seen the 9th where Hasegawa was shook but came roaring back.
To put it in context - His chances were rated similar to Brook's last week.
Never seen him fight but I remember a few years back when he had a nice win streak going and many people thought he was going to get into the p4p discussion. Then he lost and we all forgot about him.

Did anyone see Moreno get stopped in his rematch with Yamanaka yesterday? Very good shoot out while it lasted, for the WBC bantam strap. I don't know if Hasegawa would still make that weight or if Yamanaka would move up, but it would surely be a big fight in Japan, and another clash of lefties.
