East European Boxing- Are we turning a corner?
Over the last three to four years the boxing out of Eastern Europe, particularly from Belarus and beyond to Eastern Russia, the PROFESSIONAL RANKS are getting a good deal better.
Of course, we are aware of the standouts like GGG (not really Russian, but Central Asian, but Russian enough), Kovalev, Lomachenko and Provodnikov- guys that would be good in any era. But, there is now a stead stream of fighters from Central Europe to Russia that are good guys on any given night. This is not the throwback to the old Vitali/Mavrovic/Zolkin and the like, guys that were mechanic like and worked like automatons, but guys with movement and agility that like to fight and beat people up!
What is to be said about Eastern Europe now? Not just on the HW scene, but the lower weights are MUCH MORE impressive than previous years.

I remember in 1996 there was a panel of British boxers and writers that talked about the state of boxing and Barry McGuigan rightfully predicted that Eastern European boxers would be a force in boxing in the future. He was right on. This was about 5 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union and till this day Eastern Europe overall is still a long ways off from matching western Europe in terms of overall economy and standard of living. So expect to see more of them be a force in boxing.

If you had any idea what Russia has done to these countries you would not say these people are Russian enough.
14 million had their food taken and were starved to death in Ukraine in one instance alone.
There are many more atrocities. And worse.
Russian enough, educate yourself.

You'll have to excuse me if I trust the Ukrainian people about who stole their food to disperse.(not amongst the Ukrainians who grew the food)When millions of your people die you have the right to tell your own story.

Yes.
Ukrainian people like my mother's late father who was growing up in the Ukraine in the 1930s, and was a holomodor survivor. He told me about it when I was a boy - otherwise a calm soft-spoken man, he always became emotional and raised his voice in anger when he spoke about Kaganovich and the other Bolsheviks.
And you should trust the Ukrainian people who made the website I linked to above. But you should never, ever trust a Marxist.
Bolsheviks hated Russians and Ukrainians, although they conned many illiterate Russian and Ukrainian people into going along with them, as well as some Georgians, like the "useful idiot" drunkard Stalin.
Bolshevik Yakov Sverdlov ordered the murder of the Russian royal family, including the children (Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei). Yakov Yurovsky carried it out.

I did. What do you think Ukrainians and Russians are fighting for today? lolololol...
But, Swanson, STFU... we are talking about an ethno-graph of the area. Eurasian. GGG is as Eurasian as anyone else. Compare him and Lomachenko to a, let us say, to a Provodnikov and Ruslan Chagaev, he is more Euro-Russo than he is Eurasian or ethnic Asian.
