Best USA fight night I've seen in years tonight!
3 back to back absolute belters put on by Showtime/Mayweather/Dibella tonight..!
Boxing needed a night like this and with all due respect US boxing did too maybe more so.
UFC....? Fuck off
That should be the benchmark for all big fight nights and i have a gut feeling 2017 could be a top top year, with the fights coming up in the UK alone over the next 4 months things are looking very very good
Great night of Boxing from NYC
Re: Best USA fight night I've seen in years tonight!
It has been a very good and entertaining card indeed, the kind that we don't see often and that we could only hope to see on a common basis.
Re: Best USA fight night I've seen in years tonight!
I can see Mayweather soon becoming the dominant force in World Boxing if he can deliver nights like that on a regular basis.
First off the guys a serious clever businessman and knows cards like that can squash UFC in the long run and have to if Boxing wants to get back to the glory days again.
Secondly the amount of top young fighters who are gonna wanna get involved in the whole Mayweather stable must be huge, from training with team Mayweather, fighting on his shows and just being around that whole vibe.... then there's obviously the insane amount of money he's made through his fighting career that will attract them like flies round shit.
Best thing is that Floyd ain't gonna be in it just for the dollar like Don King for example, he's a fighting man from head to toe so i think him promoting really is a breath of fresh air for the sport and should force rival promoters like Golden Boy etc to raise there game too.

Just curious..... Are you a Librarian/do you bake your own Bread..?
Re: Best USA fight night I've seen in years tonight!
I totally agree w/ your take man.... Even the undercard delivered on SHO Extreme w/ Khytrov vs. Aleem that was a barn burner w/ round 3 being an early ROTY candidate....
Re: Best USA fight night I've seen in years tonight!
Agreed it was a great card
Re: Best USA fight night I've seen in years tonight!
Top notch card after it seemed we went months without live action.
It only got better compared to the ufc card last night where B.J Penn was shamelessly glued back together just to sell a main event and was hammered like a nail.

Definitely struck a nerve with some of my mates ;D some fight in the cage for a living and some just must like grown men rolling round the floor in pants.
All the expected "A Cage Fighter Would Kill A Boxer BS" came out.
I couldn't be fucked getting into a UFC/Boxing argument...... i can just about watch some UFC if it's a stand up fight but then within 30 seconds i realise they are shit boxers who then start kicking each other then get tired and settle it by using bone breaking holds or legal choke/suffocation moves while lying on the floor?
A fight should be settled by knockout not tap out!
Imagine if in every boxing match the fighter getting bashed up could turn to the ref and say "Can we stop now please he's hurting me" ;D

What bothers me most about that is what company men they all are. It had been what 6 years since Penn won a fight? But I watched about 15 different interviews and didn't find one where they admitted the fight was a joke. Just BJ should retire, that's the closest I heard. The dishonesty within the organization is disgusting. I will become a fan when it's big enough that they feel they can tell the truth. I hate how biased boxings people are but at least people have the freedom to say if they don't like something. That's my biggest gripe with PBC, they seem to follow the UFC cheerleader style. I don't need someone telling me what is amazing, I have eyes.

Worst. I am a philosphy teacher. I'd say that I cook pretty good too but I've never baked a bread.

I think that is one point that has helped ufc bring the blab of 'ending boxing' and other nonsense by some fans. It has tremendous tunnel vision but blinding brand. It's practically an extended infomercial with pre and post hour long studio coverage on every show and some bobble head with a catch phrase hypes the next ufc 501! Still though it was a matter of time before the same turn offs show up. Outrage about judging, rule changes, fighters being named great blown out badly :-X and disgraceful mismatches as above. Nick Diaz wants a boxing license? Brian Vera better watch his arse!

As I mentioned in another thread. The boxing license thing is smart. It's to exploit the Muhammad Ali Act. I explain it more thoroughly in Vendettos video thread about Amir Khan and AJ. I would just link a video where Randy Couture explains it and how the Muhammad Ali Act will be expanded to cover all fight sports but for some reason I can't do links here. If you're interested it's probably on youtube, just try searching Randy Couture discusses McGregor getting boxing license
