Did Berto have someting over Haymon & Co.
He was getting paid big money for showcase fights. Against Freddy Hernandez, Berto earned what Sergio Martinez got for fighting Paul Williams on short notice and for moving up a division to face the recognized middleweight champion of the world combined! Berto did not generate ratings or good business. Aydin was kept on hold for ages as mandatory challenger with rumors he was paid step aside money not to fight. Berto apparently priced himself out of a fight with Cotto. Berto never had to fight a rematch with Collazo. Berto turned down a fight with Mike Jones. Berto received a fee to waive his rescheduling clause with Shane Mosley for a fight Berto had cancelled. Berto also refused a 60/ 40 split with Mosley because he didn't want to travel to Cali. Knock downs against Berto were called correctly. Rumors of short rounds. How did Berto have so much go his way?
Re: Did Berto have someting over Haymon & Co.
Berto could have achieved more but for injuries and circumstances.
I think Berto was unfairly mugged and mauled by Guerreo so he could argue he has been unlucky at times.
Floyd did give him a good money fight for him though which he did not necessarily deserve.
I think Berto is finished at the top level but can still have some good fights with them such as Porter and Garcia.

Don't forget the glove and tape change after Rivera dropped him hard and hurt :-X. Berto was a guy that to me was flawed from jump off and what all those high profile opportunities did was helped him 'learn' flaws and they became baggage along with some decent promise. The constant jumping in squared up, low hands and his affinity to cuddle and clinch. He was put on a fast track and had to do a lot of learning on the job as the competition deepened. Kinda reminds me of a Wilder or Broner in a way but much more likable ;D.
