Do you donate money when you can?
I try to do this. I do my research on what charities spend the largest percentage on the good works they do realizing salaries and administration is needed. I think 80% is fair though I've found a few above this. I'm trying to find a charity for the Palestinians and one for the Coptic Christian or Christians in general displaced in the Middle East. There is very little I can do for these issues that are of concern to me and although I think Money creates much evil it can do a lot of good. When I die, which hopefully won't be for a while, I hope I have enough doe Rae mi to leave a decent amount behind to do some good.

I donate my time to children's charity and visiting people in custody. That is worth more than money because I am worth £25 per hour. :)

Re: Do you donate money when you can?
I donate as and when but now getting pissed off as they all want you to sign up and get your details etc..
I was in the hospital other day and stopped at a stall in reception as they were collecting for air ambulance. I was going to give a tenner but they couldn't accept money and instead I had to sign up for monthly donation - but I could cancel any time I wanted to they told me.
I refused so they got nowt. The guy on the stall agreed with me but that's how it works these days
Re: Do you donate money when you can?
I buy breakfast for homeless people if I see them before I get to work, That's about as much as I can afford unfortunately
Re: Do you donate money when you can?
I'd probably do the same for Master if I ever met him

It is easy to give money, your time is more precious.

Re: Do you donate money when you can?
We had a cool little program a few years ago of volunteering one weekend a month at one of the downtown shelters. Simple stuff we all take for granted, handing out toiletries and collecting then serving "unsold foods" otherwise destined for the garbage. It's stunning the amount of food and produce big and small restaurants or stores alike just simply throw out and the huge majority is perfectly good. Veterans organizations we try to donate twice a year. We do free clean up and basic vaccines for some service assistant dogs before they visit nursing homes. The homeless population has at least doubled in the immediate area but I rarely hand out cash and opt for bagels and Gatorade or grab a big sack of .49 cent tacos. Unfortunately and it's just being straight..there are homeless that play on the generosity and become "regulars", perfectly able bodied and hardly in their mid 20's usually in groups with at least 1,2 dogs but always there running up to your car window..not advised. Those are the ones who throw major attitude if you hand them a $5 roll of nickles..it spends..or a huge bag of dog food for their pets. The mothers with child or the old men with the glazed stare can crush ya.
