Ohara Davies-Josh Taylor - 8th July/Glasgow/Channel 5
Cracking Brit prospects fight for Taylor's light-welter commonwealth title.
Davies and Taylor had a barney over twitter, Eddie went public with a £70,000 offer after the McGuigan's (Taylor's promoter) said he was bullshitting, the next thing the McGuigan's took the fight off Eddie/Sky to channel 5 with everyone high-fiving each other.
Taylor (9-0, 8-chinnages) has an excellent amateur pedigree and is a fundamentally superb lefty, Davies (15-0 12-sparkages) has his own awkward style, weirdo pool cue arms and he too is packing a spiteful dig. Bookies have Taylor a slight favourite, just as a proper 50-50 on paper should be.
If you don't know them check the highlights on youtube.

Oh yeah, before it's said - I can't stand it when fans repeat promoter spiel when dealing with top prospects - "it's too early, let them get bigger, they'll earn more money in the future" - No, fuck that. A great fight is a great fight, regardless.
If the losing prospect is good enough he'll still have a successful career, see DeGale-Groves, Dillian Whyte is going great guns since losing to AJ, Sam Eggarito wasn't stopped by losing to Bradley Skeete and there's a plethora of world-class foreign fighters that have to take losses on the way up as they're deemed exposable until becoming a star attraction in their own right (Maidana, Sergio, Winky etc).

This is an explosive matchup and you just know a proper brutal domestic tear up is on the cards.
Both are heavy handed and iv'e seen Davies a few times now and have been impressed, he'll get decent terrestrial exposure on Channel 5 too and this could be a launch pad if he can get the KO.
Davies is either getting a complete boxing lesson by Taylor who is a brilliant boxer or Taylor is getting his untested chin hit hard and knocked out.
Possibly the most competitive and entertaining domestic fight we'll see all year and it's free.
Looking forward to this one but it's gonna clash with the BJ Saunders fight

Channel 5 are poor at promoting these fights, I only knew about the Selby fight being on the channel that day.

Me too infact my mum told me - True ;D
Hope they can get this on either side of the BJS fight and use a bit of common

Josh Taylor promises to give Ohara Davies 'boxing lesson'
Josh Taylor has promised to give Ohara Davies "a boxing lesson" when they fight at Braehead Arena on 8 July.
Scotland's Taylor, 26, moved Davies' sunglasses as the pair faced off at Tuesday's media conference to promote their super lightweight title bout.
"I wanted him to look into my eyes so I could tell him, 'I'm the man'," said Commonwealth title holder Taylor.
Both super lightweights are unbeaten, with England's Davies, 25, the WBC Silver belt holder.
"It's definitely my biggest fight to date but it's one I'm fully confident of winning and coming through," Taylor told BBC Scotland.
"He's going to be getting a boxing lesson on 8 July."
"It's really important for my career and it'll elevate me to that next level if I pull through.
"I don't care much for being famous or anything like that. I want to be known for being a world champion and a great boxer and the rest comes, I suppose. First and foremost, I'm just interested in the belts and the titles and being the best I can be.
Davies, part of the Matchroom stable trained by Tony Sims, did not react much to Taylor at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow but has previously been very vocal towards opponents.
"I'm a cool guy," he said. "That's me. I believe that you live and you learn. I've been wild, I've said what I needed to say in my past fights."

Yeah it clashes with the Billy Joe-Atankydevito bill, hopefully Warren will stick Nicola Adams on when the channel 5 main event starts.
Without doubt fights on 5 go under the radar but this one was made because of social media, it's already got a massive Brit-hardcore fan following, so definitely won't go unnoticed. In fact the viewing figures will absolutely wipe the floor with the Billy Joe fight, for obvious reasons.
(I didn't make a thread last week because all anyone cared about was Brook, understandably).

Re: Ohara Davies-Josh Taylor - 8th July/Glasgow/Channel 5
Davies put it right on Matthews who to be fair is no spring chicken but a seasoned pro nonetheless, Davies bamboozled him then bashed him up over 3 rounds.
Very impressive.
Re: Ohara Davies-Josh Taylor - 8th July/Glasgow/Channel 5
I like Davies. He's a proper nutter. When he tried to go toe to toe with a room full of Scousers at the Matthews presser and realised they all fancied themselves as Stan Boardman, then started calling them all cunts, genius.
Taylor must be made out of balsa wood or something, the fucker looks massive.
Cant pick a winner.

Say that to Ricky Burns when he smashed Kevin Mitchell. He was on fire that night.
