WBC to Ortiz..no worries.
So sadly it's some of what we've come to expect. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has assured Ortiz that there is no suspension due to failed VADA testing and he'll indeed retain his ranking. This is the same alphabet group that was railing about cleaning up the sport regarding banned substances and in the same breath retains Luis Nery as bantamweight champion after he also failed VADA testing. Sulaiman made a personal point to support Nery and does not believe "he was doping" because Nery "appears to be a clean young man and shows it" ???. Cue the blaming of contaminated meat again.
Meanwhile the WBA has all but cast out Ortiz with year long suspension and dropping him completely from the rankings. Wbc..not so much. Wasn't the whole point of VADA to have a uniformed process and determination to stamp out illegal and banned substances regardless of fighter affiliation or where they choose to eat a steak? If there is no consistency within the sanctioning bodies when it comes to VADA..we're talking dirty/not dirty not actual worthiness of rankings..what is the point? Or do they need to streamline the testing process and what constitutes an illegal substance. Lets face it, what do we eat today or self medicate with that is 100 percent 'chemical' free? If you're Wilder here what do you do. I lean towards telling Ortiz to piss up a rope about a proposed match but now any champion can essentially have a obvious failed cheat forced on them or risk being stripped. More and more I want Wilder to do a Riddick Bowe and drop that glorified paperweight into the nearest garbage can.

Good news.But late news.
Re: WBC to Ortiz..no worries.
It's a boxing forum there is no 'old' news ;D. Unless Mayweather related. Now that's old news.
A little screwy that sanctioning bodies are deciding suspensions rather than commissions etc. Makes VADA somewhat irrelevant, right up there with the WBC :-X.
Re: WBC to Ortiz..no worries.
Crazy stuff. Seems certain fighters get special treatment. Povetkin seems to have got screwed. Should have used the contaminated meat excuse. There needs to be a firm line on what is performance enhancing. Anyone failing that, once it's decided needs a serious ban. 2 years minimum I say. Repeat offenders longer or life bans. Just another day really in the weird world of boxing tho.
Re: WBC to Ortiz..no worries.
WBC is the most prestigious title... oh but wait but. Absolutely shameless. However, the fans don't care (en masse) about these drug cheats so why should the gangs that rely on them to stuff their coffers? There's two types of drug cheats - popular ones that "everyone" turns a blind eye too and unpopular ones that "everyone" turns a blind eye too
Re: WBC to Ortiz..no worries.
It's the second time he's failed a test too. That's the IBF with Peterson -- they let him keep his title after he failed a test -- and the WBC. And I'm probably forgetting some.

Nery is a recent one with the WBC.
Re: WBC to Ortiz..no worries.
Pretty convenient, now he gets a prime slot on Fridays card against a guy Jennings and Parker whipped out in 2 rounds. Vhat a Country :-X.

Russians would be happy if WBC ran athletics.
