Aj has but I bet Wilder is in the same camp as Tyson and Lewis.
Is this a random fact of the day or is there a point/question?
Heavyweights. Knockdowns. Go figure ;D. Tyson should have a tko against him in Holyfield rematch.
Just pointing out some interesting dynamics in fighters. They say that the heart of a champion dictates that you are challenged, so what people like Larry Merchant say.
It's just odd that the baddest man on the planet was either in ALL TO WIN FROM THE RIP, and never digged down deep to come back and win a good fight.
Tyson was all or nothing but when he was all he was blazing!
Lennox avenged his knockouts but still down and out in his fights.
I saw a documentary about the regressive behavior of convicted sex offenders, Tyson let Buster and Lewis savage him for the guilt he felt for past transgressions. That's what the clinical physiologist expert said anyway. Makes sense.
I have a theory, all of Tyson's knockdowns have been a result of pure exhaustion. He's never been knocked down while fresh. Most of the time he was already out on his feet. Every time he was put down, he was tired as hell.
I wonder what boxing would be today if Mike Tyson actually stayed disciplined.
really effed me off after Ali's death arguing with younger people how Tyson was not the greatest of all time - still can't believe some younger people believe this.
I pointed out he never won when facing adversity - fact
My arguments fell on deaf ears.
I only really remember Tucker and Bruno landing decent shots on him when he was at his most fearsome. Maybe Ruddock did too but that's a fight I've not seen since it actually happened - and I can't even remember if that was before or after the Douglas fight....
The Razzor Ruddock fights against Tyson are the fights I have watched the most. Tyson was chasing Holyfield and faced the biggest single puncher in the game. Tyson was an old 24 year old and was losing his boxing skills and discipline therefore the fight was just a slugfest. Tyson bust up Ruddock's jaw and ribs.
Softened him up for Lennox.
To be fair to Tyson he never had it really happen that much to him and he did take a beating before going down for the count. Holyfeild is a hard comparisons because that guy could be having heart attack in the ring and still fight.
I agree with the point that by the time Tyson ever went down, he was exhausted and had accumulated a significant amount of punishment. Mike definitely had a solid chin, as evidenced by some of the bombs he took from Ruddock, Lewis...etc. I consider Evander the greater fighter (both p4p and at heavyweight), but Mike was more consistent prior to the Douglas fight in my opinion. I place his being the youngest to win the title and clean out the division as equal to rising from a knockdown to win.
