Does anyone watch terrestrial tv like they used to as a kid anymore?

I stopped paying my TV license last year as i rarely watch live TV because it's 90% shit i have no interest in.
I scrapped my BT TV and BT Sports around the same time as i thought why am i paying for a service i can get in pretty much the same quality for a fraction of the cost.
I watch loads of Sport, all the Football and Boxing and Sky Sports News is pretty much on 24/7 at home.

I was lucky enough to have joined an internet based TV provider a few years ago who have now stopped taking new members which guarantees proper flawless HD streams and i get every channel you could ever want including all the PPV Boxing for free.

I pay £50 a year and simply refuse to ever line Sky/BT or the BBC's extortionate fees ever again.

Anyone else purely watch TV through a similar internet based provider?

I'll catch a glimpse of cable tv if I'm at a sports bar or at the gym they'll have the tvs on but that's about it. Mostly it's Netflix and YouTube.

I pay £70 and get exactly the same but have 2 boxes.

I pay my license fee to BBC and also still have the virgin box basically for free which records my favourite shows which is one thing the box does not do well.

I do not get ITV ppv but get the rest.

Tv license sounds funny, we just say satellite. Streaming or cable. I'd love to shake of cable but haven't been able to. I'm a news junky and like all the options our cable company company offers. It's funny u bring this up right now as my neighbors are getting a new cable service I didn't know was available in my area. I think one problem is I've had these providers that offer hundreds of channels for so long it's hard for me to change. My coworker told me he recently got PlayStation TV which is streaming and a good price so I may look into that and talk to my neighbor about his new service

Its very rare that I watch any television programs, I'll put the news on of a Saturday and Sunday morning and that is it really.

I watch a lot more stuff on Netflix than I did a few years ago, I tend to get in from work and I'll be listening to music, playing an instrument or reading a book, when I go to bed I'll normally put something on YouTube.

The only reason that I pay for a TV license is for the boxing and the F1, I like watching it live and if it isn't a big fight then I'll record it.

I have thought countless times about cancelling my TV license but I dunno, I'll watch the football every now and again and shit like that, for 10 quid a month I just carry on and pay it.

My Dad is a massive telly addict, he watches every TV series going and he is fucking addicted to Emmerdale, he even watches Big fucking Brother, he can't understand why I am happy with a 40 inch TV, he has some fucking 80 inch curve screen HD 4k rocket launcher TV, and he uses it to watch shit like masterchef...doesn't make sense to me.

No TV for me either. I do podcasts and a bit of You Tube, but it is mostly reading for me. If there is anything I want to watch I will download it and watch it. I don't see the need for some archaic schedule and won't watch dramas or soaps of any kind. I want information, I want to be challenged, and I want to learn. Otherwise, I do not see the point.

I recently binned Sky after years too. Being in doors all the time I realised I never even put the TV on let alone need a million channels, I have the radio on 24/7. The only things I watch apart from boxing (big sports events) is snooker and racing, which between ITV and BBC they basically have covered.

However, even if they didn't, like boxing, you can easily watch them online on the freemans.

What radio channels? I listen to Radio 5, 4 and Talk Sport. Classical if I want to relax or radio 3.

Catch up TV is how I watch TV with kids. Movies and comedy such as big bang and Middle.

I rarely watch live tv any more and Just use catch up. I binned sky sports two years ago - my interest in football virtually zero now, hard to believe when I used to watch any old match ten years ago.


I would miss the ease of the sky interface mind to record and line up programmes but I’m paying 75 a month for sky and broadband and 8 for Netflix and 8 for amazon prime.

I've done that. Pay for Netflix and other premium services. For a while I had HBO, Showtime, Netflix and Amazon prime. Only watched the boxing on hbo and showtime so it was tough to dump them but due to my schedule I could never watch them live anyway. I get YouTube TV for no additional charge so I watch the fights a day or two after but I need to avoid the boxing section if I want to be surprised. Netflix is the only premium I have, I like it but damn they have much more shit than good shows. They also support the destruction of western society.

That is still a lot of money. I pay £33 for telephone line, broadband and TV.

Wonder what cost of tv license is in U.S dollars? Tv is mainly background pics and noise these days and I stubbornly still pay out for a fat cable bill for mainly news weekend games boxing and a couple of weekly shows. Ideally what they need are personalized blocks of channels for set fee but that won't happen.

TV licence is only a British thing where you pay it to watch any BBC format. As you do not have the privilege of watching the channel that shows no adverts you do not have to worry about it. We pay £147 for the honour.

£147. So what’s that just over 200 dollarsish.
