Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
On the forum here there's the thread for upcoming boxing matches and on the night there is very welcome round by round commentary.
Is there any enthusiasm to make it a broadcast channel on here for fans to shoot the breeze round by round to make it more interactive?
It could be a link on this site to a discord app or skype app that allows us all to comment, listen in on commentary whether it be between rounds or otherwise.
Thoughts?
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
How does it work? I am thick at these things.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
I thought it might be a nice feature in between rounds and much more interactive than refreshing the browser for new posts.
It's still great that other posters let us know what's happening, this would add something new.
I'll go look into it and see.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
So far the easiest App I've found is: Appear_In.
The free version supports up to 4 users.
If anyone wants to test this tonight, they can join in the link below see how an audio group chat works
Very easy to use. Click onto the weblink , then the red rectangular button and you're in.
https://appear.in/SaddoBoxing
Once you're in, then you can disable video or audio as you prefer.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
Having people chatter over the commentary wouldn't work for me I don't think, I'm happy typing away whilst watching and listening.
Plus do you not think you would get people just talking over each other all the time?
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
That's not my thing either but good idea.
@Brock will love it
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights

We already have a text chat which is this forum.
Next week will be a good time to try it.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
The text chat feature is just something for Fight night and is more immediate, i.e. no need to refresh browser
Be good to try it all out next week and see if it adds anything to the experience for members here. Even have a laugh with it.
So far, the Appear_In webpage is by far the easiest way to have a conference call without having to register or install extra software.
A quick 4 minute tutorial on the Appear. In is here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl-bTXwV_Kk
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
I will try and download it.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
I dunno man, end of a round hit refresh, see what people have posted and add a quick thought of your own.
Rather than having to scroll back through constant live chatter, I can see it being harder work than putting out a quick post.
I'm all for you lot trying it out but I'll not be giving it a go, I also like being able to read through the posts if I have missed the fight, it gives a live opinion on how a fight unfolded rather than just summaries after the event.

I was thinking between rounds, but see how it works. People might get used to it and realise just to wait their turn.
And the option is there to type also for everyone on the conference channel to see at once without refreshing the web browser
Was hoping it might add something to the interactions here.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
That is cool, it is a bit like skype.
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
Echoing the others... good idea, but probably wouldn't work for me. Even just refreshing, reading, and typing a short comment is pushing it with me, as the minute between rounds seems to fly by. ;D
Re: Audio Commentary for Upcoming Fights
Maybe I'm more of a traditionalist but seems you'd lose the blend of individuality in posts and mass appeal in larger fights with limit of 4 people. After that they want you to pay for it no? RBRs fly by and refreshing happens on it's own if folks just chime in. Surely seeing how ugly each other is will forever ruin the vibe ;D;D. I mean what's the point of a typed forum if we're all in a group meet. Really though it's a different avenue, be interesting and maybe try it on a random board or thread to see how kinks work out?
just realized we actually had a group chat feature below posts but looks like it's no longer there? I remember on old rbrs you would have a handful of posters start a closed chat while in an active rbr. It turned into basically split groups which felt odd. Hey anything to encourage participation as rbr were the reason I started here and stayed. Now though depending on fighters if it's not a HUGE fight it can be lonely as feck ;D.
