Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
yeah i think its time... they moved him really fast at first but seem to have took the foot off the gas over the past few years.
time will tell on cotto i guess... i would really like to see him in a superfight to see what the guys got
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
he will have NO problem with magalini
anyone who is fast, powerfull, and has a counterpunching style i think would give him huge problems, but a guy who just trades i thnk he can handle, even tho he has a shitty chin
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
He should try for the Castillo-Corrales winner, or even loser.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
Arum has already stated that he wants to match Castillo v Cotto at the end of the year as Castillo is moving up to 140 and it will be Cotto's last fight there. I posted a link about it aaaaages ago.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
that may be a bad idea, i dont think hed knock castillio down, and he definitley wouldnt outbox him

agreed. thats a fight i would most definately like to see...
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
Castillo would be a good fight for him, and as good as Castillo is, it's winable for Cotto.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
If you are a Cotto fan, you better hope that he gets a fight with Corrales instead of Castillo.

I stated he should try for the winner or loser, but I honestly think, he don't want to meet Castillo yet. It would be a fight that I want to see, but Castillo is more dangerous, and more skillfull than Torres.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
Castillo Cotto would be a great fight but my boy Cotto could beat him. Just make sure he does not get on the inside,he is bigger and stronger than Castillo and El Temible does not have that 1 punch power of Torres. Remember, Cotto comes to the ring usually around the 153 plus mark!! Cotto would go the body early, slow Castillo's punch uot put down and as Chico showed when there was space between him and JLC, Castillo can be outboxed. Cotto has a good jab to keep him at bay. The chance for Castillo is if Cotto wants to go to war, then Cotto will lose!! I think he is smarter than that though!!
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
Paulie Malgnaggi is a real fight. You guys may lose a lotta money, come fight night because...
... let me fill you guys in. ;D
Paulie has world class speed. And his footwork is awkward. He's been paying attention to Cotto's style ever since his debut, and following Cotto's career ever since. The kid is that focused. Cotto's accurate punching will save him, but he has to deal with this Sonic the Hedgehog for 12 rounds.
If your opponent is young, awkward, confident, fast....
Well, don't be surprised to see an upset crowd of Puerto Ricans on their holiday weekend.

:coolclick:
But I still think the smarte fight would be against Corrales. Cotto has done well, but Castillo is a true vet.

I think its time he steps up his game and fights some one whose name we atleast recognize. I want to see how this kid does against a real fighter. The funny thing is I dont think he is even making any moves to fight a big name fighter. There was speculation that he might be considering a fight with DeLaHoya but with Oscar scheduled to fight Mayorga thats not gonna happen no time soon. What do yall think? Is this kid ready to fight some body whose name aint Jon Doe.
He's as ready as he'll ever be. he's reaching his physical peak over the next couple of years and the only thing he'll be lacking is big fight experience, and the only way he'll get that is by fighting the big fights. IMO he should do this sooner rather than later cause if he does come unstuck he'll still be young enough to come back and make adjustments and have plenty of time to come back for more big fights later.
There's too much emphasis on an unbeaten record nowadays, he could hold on to his title til he's in his thirties fighting nobodies and then go for a big fight, but if he'd lose that there'd be huge question marks over the rest of his career. That's what would have happened to JC if he'd lost to Lacy.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
They'll step him up only when they're confident he can win. It's just good management really. There not gonna invest all that money building him to throw him to the lions are they?
Trouble is the hype has exceeded the achievement and Miguel is now having to do his learning in public.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto ready?
I really think Cotto is the type of guy who needs a challenge to bring the best out of him.
He's gotta step it up sometime this year IMO.
Often a very lazy fighter and seems to not wanna set the pace sometimes
