Does mediocrity breed greatness >>>
yeah we all know that the heavyweight division ain't what it once was, we all give them stick, Ali would smash Fury, Tyson would smash Wilder, Lewis would smash AJ, I'm the first one to agree with all that stuff but...

These mediocre heavyweights have gave us a good few scraps in a short space of time
I pulled Brock up earlier for constantly comparing modern day fighters to the greats, after watching this video (and seeing each of the fights live) is it time we got on with enjoying boxing for what it is at the moment, the old men are legends for a reason, these fellas are doing what they are paid to and giving us decent fights.
Or do highlight reals cover up 95% of the shit and just show us 5% of the action worth watching?
Re: Does mediocrity breed greatness >>>
Good post Batman.
These guys have given us some decent fights.
I agree that we should enjoy boxing for what it is at the moment. I think we are entering another sort of golden era. The fights from now to the end of the year across all weights are something fans should be appreciating. At this rate 2019 is lining up to be a brilliant year for fans.

Peak Wlad/Lennox beats the current crop and unifies the title
AJ would take his time, waits in line and bides his time to get in the mix to challenge.
Bellew would never ever contemplate fightiin the mix?
Re: Does mediocrity breed greatness >>>
I agree with the OP in that the current crop is in place to give us some great fights. My only comment is we're just now entering another era of great and exciting fights, now that Wlad's reign is over. Before that it was a decade of boring ass fights, for reasons I've stated numerous times in the past. Having said all that, I'd still put Ali, Tyson and Lewis above Fury, Wilder and AJ. But that's just my opinion, having seen all six in action.
Re: Does mediocrity breed greatness >>>
All the 80s & 90s fighters mentioned are decades old so obviously we look back on their complete careers with great memories
The new guys have only recently started to cross paths with the top dog's still yet to meet so just sit back and enjoy.
Ortiz v Wilder
AJ v Wlad
Whyte v Parker
Chisora v Takam
Whyte v Chisora
All great action packed & entertaining recent Heavyweight fights with KOs galore.
AJ v Povetkin tonight then Fury v Wilder and Whyte v Chisora 2 to come in Dec .
Whyte v Chisora 2 is another nailed on tear up and most likely to be the pick of those 3.
The division is alive & kicking 😎
Re: Does mediocrity breed greatness >>>
There is a saying...put two guys that don't know how to box in the ring and you will have a good fight.
Re: Does mediocrity breed greatness >>>
Apparently in the wrong Country to view that video. But as stated there have been plenty of decent scraps at hvy in this 'era'. What we want and need though are for THE top showdowns to happen. I just can't picture Holyfield and Bowe or Tyson having twitter wars ;D. We'll never get away from the comparisons and hypotheticals though as it's just normal. Fans will mostly hold the era the 'lived' first hand as a measuring stick and easiest remembered ;D. Just have to keep perspective with changes to sport, training , nutrition and mentality etc. One day this era will be reflected on and serve as peer to heavyweight youth of the future. So goes the sport.
