WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
So basically it's very likely to be Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April next year.
Then the winner of Fury v Pulev later in the year.
It's looking like we won't see AJ face Wilder or Fury until 2020.
“The WBO is next [mandatory for Joshua], so it’s all down to what the WBO decide,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “They are going to review it at their convention, which is right at the end of October.
“Dillian Whyte is probably the frontrunner right now for the WBO mandatory, and then after that it’s IBF mandatory, which is the winner of Hughie Fury against Pulev. That’s probably not going to come round until the end of 2019.”

I said when they were in negotiations with Wilder, if the fight didn't get done then, it wouldn't get done. Now everyone can see why Wlad fought some tomato cans.
When you have so many belts , if you wanna keep them , you have to fight a string of mandatories.
Yeah, AJ could toss a belt in the bin, he wouldn't necessarily be the first to do that, but then it opens up the chance of another , probably lesser champion, which muddies the waters further. And regardless of whether he is #1 out there or not, his unique selling point is the domination of the belts.
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
I hope Whyte is up for the rematch. He's a gutsy fighter. I don't think Pulev or Baby Hughie will pose much of a threat for AJ...I wouldn't mind seeing Hughie get smacked around.
It's a shame it takes so damned long for title unifications and it's a shame that SOME title holders (not AJ or Wilder really, more Ruiz, Valuev, etc from a while ago) are allowed to just hold their 1 title and not challenge for the other belts.
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
It’s going to be funny watching this get excused. Let’s pretend AJ didn’t know this when he refused to offer Wilder a percentage that will be fun.
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
Hearn’s been talking about Jarrell Miller fighting Joshua next year . Probably just coincidence that Hearn is his promoter.
So it’s looking like :
Joshua v
Whyte
Hughie Fury/Pulev
Miller
And Wilder/Fury, Wilder will win, Fury will admit he was undercooked and will be better in the rematch . He wins the rematch and then there will be a decider.
Pretty underwhelming if you ask me.

I am sure Wilder has a mandatory after he beats Fury which is Breazeale.
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
One of the many reasons I stopped bothering with who had what belt a long time ago.
Even if it gets unified it would soon be split.
We all know who the main men are.
I’ve gone by the Ring ratings for a long time now
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
Belts can be overrated and they..the alphabet soup boys heading them..like to believe they make and legitimize already proven top fighters. I understand the marketability and gloss for the record books and talking points for fans but it turns into a game of whack A mole with top fighters bouncing around to face rotating mandatories. Honestly the sanctioning bodies first thought after the rare full unification is how to grab theirs back and start making garbage 'eliminators' like BJ flipping Flores and Trevor Bryan. They are soft walking Miller for a reason and with same promotion can see him in eliminator with Bryan or Whyte then AJ. Trying to predict what the syndicates will do requires one to toss out common sense and the fans perspective at times.
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
Whyte, Pulev/Fury, AND Miller??!??
I've seen women play hard to get, but this is ridiculous.
If Wilder wins and calls out Joshua, he'd be wise not to follow through with that agenda.
Re: WBO Mandatory next for AJ then an IBF Mandatory
Nobody wants to see a rematch with white. Nor will Wilder beat Fury. The fight in the spring has to be the winner which is Tyson Fury against AJ

I don’t buy this. Wlad fought tomato cans because that’s almost all there was around, and when there were good opponents people wanted to see him in with the fights generally got made, however much they ended up sucking. this is a better time for HW boxing. IF AJ binned a belt to fight the winner of Wilder-Fury, and won that fight, nobody would give a rats who fought for the vacant title. Not to mention, AJ would represent so much more money than anyone else(he already does), he could easily just get the title back. Plus there’s the fact that the WBC is the only title he doesn’t have and holds more prestige than these other two, so even in the vein of your argument he’d just be swapping one belt for another.
