Showtime forum deleting my posts concerning their bad referees
I originally posted the following on Showtime's ask AL forum in a responce to a thread concerning their bad referees. My posts was the only one deleted and deleted five times so now I will start a new thread here since it looks like the Showtime forum is becoming like those on Ebay's where the mega-corporation manipulates or deletes all posts and threads as it sees fit.
“Fortunately America does not yet have the blatant racists and ethnically biased sports fanatics as seen in many other countries but there is an obvious discrimination among U.S. television networks against certain boxers. This discrimination seems to get worse toward those of foreign countries as seen with some recent fights including Lacey/Reid, Baldomir/Judah and probably the fight in question. Showtime, HBO and even the Contender have big contracts with many prospective boxers and so just as promoters use notorious tactics to protect their interests these networks probably will as well. Lately, there has been a lot of pressure to clean up corrupt judges so the next weakest link are the referees who try to discourage one fighter while doing whatever possible to give the other an edge. This bias can also be seen among some announcers. Although Showtime announcers are very fair, I have observed a few scenes that looked quite suspicious. For instance, remember when the post-fight interviewer rudely interrupted Baldomir while he was telling the world about his life? The interviewer aggressively asked Baldomir “answer my question about giving Judah a rematch and then you can tell your story!" Then when Baldomir and team refused the rematch the interviewer quickly left the winner just standing there. Certain announcers too will often give nothing but praise to their poster boy boxers and criticize every move the challenger makes. It usually goes something like this “poster boy is wisely and cautiously picking his shots and conserving his energy” while “unknown challenger is aggressively flailing away but to no avail. There are very good referees in boxing but a few bad apples more common on Showtime are constantly corrupt. HBO has started to provide its viewers with past decisions of judges and the same should be done with referees as well.”
