Linares v Burns set for September 07th in Glasgow

Two veterans in desperate need of a big win will reportedly go at it on September 7th when Jorge Linares faces Ricky Burns in the latter’s usual stomping grounds of Glasgow, Scotland.
The Evening Times call the matchup a WBA lightweight eliminator, though one would hope it isn’t a “final” eliminator, as Linares (45-5, 28 KO) is ranked 10th and Burns (43-7-1, 16 KO) is unranked. Still wouldn’t put it past the WBA.....

I genuinely feel sorry for Linares. The trip to 140 was ill advised but for all the talent and time put in he once again has to scrape and glue all the pieces back together and live it down all over again after Cano torched him. Reminds me a bit if Roger Mayweather, all the skill in the world but his brutal KO losses were their own must see highlight reel.

I am a Linares fan, will support him against Burns and he gave Loma a good fight but shocked at his 1st round stoppage loss against Pablo Cesar Cano.

I saw Linares fighting here in Japan. He has great skills. He will easily beat Ricky
