Peter Fury..and Father/Son relationship
Sometimes with the father/son relationships in boxing they don’t seem to work.
Peter has achieved greatness with Tyson Fury but is it a case of letting Hughie Fury go with someone else to get that extra 10-20% offensive streak out of him?
Hughie is at a place where he is even more boring to watch and no world class opponent will respect his power.
Is it sometimes the case where a son or fighter is so used to their their father/trainer that the positive advice is not getting through, and they need that new stranger type trainer to restart the relationship again?
Angel Garcia cannot get anymore out of Danny Garcia and there’s more on the table.
Both Peter and Angel love their sons so do the right thing and give them a fresh look with a Virgil hill/Roach/mcgirt type trainer to takeover.
Your thoughts please on father/son boxing relationships that work and fail..

Roy Jones was successful with his dad but think they fell out hard and do not know if they talk to one another now.
Think Shane Mosely trains his son but is it worth a breakup in their relationship.
Joe Calzaghe is the best example of son and dad doing well until the end.
Garcia dad is a pain and a hindrance.

As a trainer it’s hard to say but most fighters are who they are. All you can really do is play to their strengths and teach them how to compensate for their weaknesses.(my type of training is exactly the opposite but I am not a boxing trainer even if I am in the business so,,,different)
How many fighters have you seen change trainers once? If it’s your dad’s fault or your uncles it will probably be the next guys fault and the next guys. Freddie Roach is a legend, but if you can’t avoid the straight right he has nothing for you. And he’s HOF.
Fury is who he is, like Wilder is who he is and Thurman is who he is and Loma is who he is. Small changes can lead to drastic differences but be sure, they are small changes.

Tyson Fury has looked much better under young Ben Davison, right? More discipline, mentally stronger?

Darkie Smith/Stephen Smith is my favourite father/son team... only because Darkie jumped in the ring to attack Micky Vann (ref) to save his son from a Ricky Hatton beating.

not really sure if I’m honest. Was he better vs Wlad or vs Wilder?
Bear in mind Wlad was levels above what Wilder is as a Boxer.
Don’t get me wrong, Ben Davison has worked a miracle and his starting point was way back from what Peter Fury had to work with.
I just think back then Peter was what he needed, and now Davison is.
Not really sure if he’s improved.

Tyson is a top boxer at his best, with his height and reach he has the hand and foot speed to out box anyone. If anyone can get him to knuckle down and focus on staying in shape and in training they need a medal. Davison is not going to improve his boxing skills they just have to keep him focused.
