Americans to proud and stubborn to wear a mask, for no reason but only "muh freedom". Either that or "muh 2nd amendment". So there go ahead and take your 1,300,000 infections, now it's 71,000 dead (more than all of Viet Nam War, all since March). "Muh freedom".

Most governments have not covered themselves with glory in their handling of Covid-19, with a few exceptions of course.
I can't really see much evidence of a genuine strategy in America. The federal govt seem completely out of their depth.
Looks like the states are acting as local govt, and adopting their own solutions as they see fit. Actually, that seems sensible but I wonder how planned that was, rather than them simply having to step up into a void?
Being far away means I don't know what is really going on

The fed put out guidelines to each state. Each state is responsible for handling its opening procedure. The Fed suggested each state do it with several surrounding states and listed them but it seems to be a guideline the states can ignore. Not all states are ignoring it my state is working with three other states planning the opening. It’s actually a good way to go about it. My state borders NY so our numbers are a bit elevated. Letting each state handle there own opening is good procedure and constitutional. I think in the US they are more celebrating the doctors, frontline workers, the way some corporations kicked in to help etc.
