Are there more Southpaws than ever before?
Do you think some people deliberately learn to fight southpaw so they will have an advantage? I never remember seeing so many Southpaws. I started watching boxing about 1972. Every Saturday 52 weeks in a year wide world of sports would always have several matches on channel 7 ABC. I could count the times that I remember watching a southpaw fighter on one or two hands. We are talkin about 45+ Years of watching boxing. Suddenly in the last 5 or 10 years it seems a very normal thing to see a Southpaws and sometimes two South paws fighting each other.
Natural South paws versus converted South paws, that would be an interesting comparison. I know Michael Moorer was a converted southpaw.
that right jab is going to be really really powerful as that is the natural power hand for a converted southpaw. And don't let Michael moorer catch you with a right hook

Oscar Dr La Hoya was the reverse he was left handed and fought orthodox. He had a powerful man and left hook.

I believe Gerry Cooney was also a converted southpaw, hence the crushing left hook.

I do not know if it is true but heard Mike Tyson was but not 100% sure.
Dundee said he got a child to ask hagler to sign an autograph to see if he was left or right handed when he was going to fight Hagler. Think Hagler was right handed.

a southpaw will face more orthodox boxers than an orthodox will face southpaws. If a southpaw throws a jab, then a Pivot to the right and a left hook at long range, the left hook at long range is southpaw, so it’s actually a right hook at long range (a lead hand long range hook).
