Haven’t watched one in some time but the very first contender series were pretty decent. Although it was an avenue to put Sergio Mora on a main stage so guess there’s a downside ;D. Have to say the ufc does a similar series now and it’s very well done. It would be interesting if specific gyms and trainers had series. Following them for camps with not only pre fight but post ‘day in the life’ type stuff.
Never seen the De La Hoya one but I remember us all being quite into Contender. Double edged sword aint it. On one hand I loved Alfonso Gomez and even though it was sad, loved when he beat the shit out of Gatti. On the flip side it was tough watching him getting torn a new one by Cotto. We also got Mora as a World fucking champion and shovel face Manfredo getting embarrassed by Calzaghe + Referee.
