Jim Brown dies at 87

Yes I know. This is mostly a British forum, and most likely few know who Jim Brown was.

Brown was way before my time... but I know of him as one of the greatest NFL running backs who ever lived. After retirement, Brown was a very well-known and well-spoken social activist. A very respected man in all circles. I also remember seeing him in a couple of movies.

Here's a famous picture taken of Brown with Ali, Bill Russell, and Lew Alcindor (later Kareem Abdul Jabbar). Russell and Abdul-Jabbar were basketball all-time greats.

That is an iconic photo.

Only heard of Jim Brown through Ali documentaries and did not know about his death.

RIP legend

It never occurred to me that he retired before 30 at peak of his career. Right into a top Hollywood run. Really was a man who did it his way, always bigger than the field of sport and cinema. Representing and contributing to community as a leader was priority. Rest easy Jim Brown.
