Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Fredrick Lawson tonight

Anyone catching this tonight? It's on Dazn so not seeing it here but happy to hear Ortiz is making a long-awaited return after being sidelined with his serious medical condition. Not long ago he was one of the clear favorites to grow into the welterweight division and make major noise. Now however he is campaigning at 154 and the fight with Lawson is contracted as a catchweight. Once upon a time Lawson was touted as a heavy hitting prospect with a sharp jab but the shine has come off after being ko'd a few times and inactivity. He's 2-0 since being ko'd by Charles Hatley in 2021. All indicators are Ortiz feels very comfortable thru training camp and on weight absent the problems of the past. An in shape Ortiz should comfortably have his way with Lawson especially the body shot machine we saw coming up.

Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso fight for the wba interim 140 belt on undercard. Not counting old man river Barroso out here ;D. Actually wanted to see this one.

Barroso TKO 1 :o. Just like that 40 year old mule kick punching Barroso is a top Jr welterweight. Ready for a strap. Only saw a clip. Davies had the look on his face as the ref waved it like he had no idea what hit him. Crazy start to 2024

Fuck me! I thought Howard Foster was bad, but Weeks was definitely a “Tad Premature.” It’s the first round and there’s only about 20 seconds to go and hardly any punches we’re getting through.
BUT………… Lawson has to take some of the blame himself. He could’ve showed something, throw a punch back just to show you’re still alive ffs.
Yet again, the only losers are the paying fans.

The last time I saw Barroso fight was eight years ago, he was getting folded by Anthony Crolla. It's highly entertaining that at what, 57 years old, he's beating the ever loving piss out of Davies and making a mug of him, and De La Hoya in the process.

Fuck ! Ohara Davies is gone! He almost looks like he’s on something, just doesn’t look right. He looks terrible.
The first instinct with Ohara Davies is to have a field day and dig him out, he certainly hasn’t done himself any favours in the past , and from outside looking in appears a bit of a twat!
But I have to say, I know a couple of people who know him and they’re very complimentary about him and say he’s a way better bloke than it looks on the surface.
So with that in mind, I have to say it’s a shame.

Tony Weeks pulling receipts :-X. Call me nutty, I don't doubt shopping doctors to come to an agreement and that goes for many promotions. In the name of business and all. Shame is that Barroso owned the night. Blew me away as he set big bomb left counters on Davies with ease. Really want to see Vergil Ortiz steady weight range after the Lawson charade. Safe to say not heard the last on failed medical allegations.
