Frank Bruno in the present day
I saw a thread on the Betfred group the other day asking people how they thought Bruno would do if he was around today and against Joshua, Fury etc
Have to say although he had his limitations at the elite level I'd have my money on him to beat Joshua and Dubois. Not sure about Fury and Usyk but he'd certainly be in with a shout.
He was a lot better than people gave him credit for but the big punchers were dangerous for him.

Funnily enough, last summer I went to one of these dinners that Frank Bruno was the speaker at, where you have a question and answer session with them.
I asked him how he thought he would do against Fury and Joshua.
To be fair, people have an idea about Bruno , but he has a lot more savvy than that. In his reply , he gave Fury and AJ respect, never dissed them , but made it perfectly clear that he would back himself against them.
And the look in his eyes when he looked at me when answering it showed me he would’ve been very confident.
And I’ve got to be fair , I asked the question because I agree 100% with him.
People need to take his career more seriously really.
Re: Frank Bruno in the present day
I am a big admirer of Bruno and know his career quite well but he was limited against the elite boxers of the day.
Bruno tired as the rounds went on an Fury/AJ/Usyk would use that knowledge to beat him.
Re: Frank Bruno in the present day
I'd fancy him to ko Joshua before the later rounds
Re: Frank Bruno in the present day
Bruno would be on the level of a Gary Mason was back in his day. lol...
Re: Frank Bruno in the present day
Mason had a decent career. He was unlucky with the detached retina he suffered and still fought Lewis after that after 'retiring'. That was his only defeat. His ko percentage was impressive too.
He was still relatively young when he retired I think but had no choice.
I would fancy Masons chances against Bruno more than I would Joshua's

I think the AJ that beat Wlad would beat Bruno.
AJ would have his shaky moments, like Lennox Lewis did against Bruno, but think he would get through and stop Frank in the later rounds.

This shows how underrated Bruno was. He was fighting animals like Tyson and Lewis and holding his own. AJ & Fury are fighting Ngannou ffs.
Where’s @erics44 when you need him.
Bruno beats AJ and Fury, loses to Usyk and that’s it.

Bruno lost when he stepped up to world class opponents like Tyson and Lewis. Frank also fought his share of awful opponents too.
I am certain Fury beats Bruno but less about AJ.

He didn't lose over 6 rounds
Tyson bla bla bla
Bruno is the all time lb4lb best fighter ever over 6 rounds
And FYI a half arsed Bruno would beat a peak AJ every day of the week
P.s I don't seem to be able to send posts on my works pc anymore, some shit firewall probably, but as there's a Bruno thread I thought I'd get my phone out and put things straight

The World class opponents Bruno stepped up to would be all time greats in this era. And Bruno’s awful opponents would’ve been World class in this era.
No way would Bruno have been able to fight Stone cold Steve Austin in a professional Boxing ring and people try to justify it like it’s competitive.
There’s only quality HW around at the minute and that’s Usyk. But AJ, Fury, Wilder, Whyte, Parker ain’t worth a lick in All time talks.
I never put Dubois in that group because to be fair to him , he’s got his career ahead of him , so we’ll judge after we’ve seen where he gets to.
Re: Frank Bruno in the present day
Six rounde of Bruno would be enough to beat AJ agreed.
The big hitters were a problem for Bruno - let's face it they're a problem for every fighter - but we all know where he fell short. If Jumbo Cummings had landed his bomb a few seconds earlier Frank could even have been long forgotten.
I must have been about ten and watched in horror mouth agape as Frank stood there in suspended animation. Oooof
