Who should be next for Oleksandr Usyk?
Oleksandr Usyk is set to take an 'extended break' from boxing after beating Tyson Fury for a second time.
His manager Egis Klimas claims his fighter won't be in the gym again until at least April.
“It’ll be a very long preparation,” Klimas told Boxing Scene. “After another 12 rounds with Fury, he needs a good, long recovery.”
Klimas added that he anticipates Usyk's next fight will fall at “the end of July, or August.”
When he steps back between the ropes the expectation is that he will fight IBF champion Daniel Dubois in an undisputed showdown, providing, of course, he is able to beat Joseph Parker on February 22.
"I don’t think anyone else is left in the heavyweight division. Right now, Daniel Dubois is the IBF champion...
Many people discussed the first fight, claiming it wasn’t a low blow, but it undoubtedly was.
"The referee gave us recovery time, and I believe any smart fighter would use that chance.
"For many, this raised questions, and for Oleksandr, a fight with Dubois after Fury would be the ideal opportunity to show he can beat him and become the undisputed heavyweight champion a second time.”

Re: Who should be next for Oleksandr Usyk?
Not really bothered about seeing him fight anyone else now but the dubois rematch kind of sells.
Dubois has matured since that defeat and the low blow controversy adds some doubt to Usyks win to warrant it going ahead. I'd watch for sure
Re: Who should be next for Oleksandr Usyk?
Should be receiving Rings fighter of the year award. Rematch with Dubois should he beat Parker, well good. Dubois deserves "comeback of the year" also. But Daniel looking past Joe will be his downfall. Usyk can honestly retire next week full respect.
Re: Who should be next for Oleksandr Usyk?
Andy Ruiz Jr, Ajagba, Kabayel, Bakole and Zhang should be up there.

Is Andy ruiz still fighting....

Usyk could easily walk away, he's completed everything in boxing. Being the type of champion he is he'll give the Dubois/ Parker winner the opportunity.

No. He won the title once, but he was never a true champion. Have to admit that. I loved watching his hand speed and calm demeanour in the ring, but he is just not championship caliber talent. He didn't have it mentally to dominate, despite all of his skills and assets.

Oleksandr Usyk won't be rushing back to the ring.
The Ukrainian slickster was recently ordered by the WBO to defend his undisputed heavyweight crown against interim champion Joseph Parker.
As of July 27, both sides have been given 30 days to agree upon terms before the fight goes to a purse bid.
However, Usyk has requested an extension to those negotiations in order for him to recover from a niggling injury.
Now, Usyk's team director, Sergey Lapin, has provided a lengthy statement to Ready to Fight, outlining their stance on the Ukrainian's next steps.
“Throughout his entire professional career, both Oleksandr Usyk and our whole team have proven that we respect all potential opponents as well as the rules that govern professional boxing," said Lapin.
"Over the past year and a half, Usyk has accomplished a historic achievement by becoming the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion twice.
"That demanded tremendous physical and mental effort, and great sacrifice.
"The champion has earned the chance to let his body recover from the effects of a punishing training regime and from injuries that are often invisible to the outside world.
"And, ultimately, simply to rest and spend time with his family.
"Most importantly: he has earned the right to choose his own future – and to take the time he needs to make that decision.
"So, guys, don’t push the horses."
If Usyk chooses to fight somebody else rather than Parker, then he will be forced to vacate his WBO belt.
The Kiwi would then be upgraded from interim to full world champion.
His first defence would likely be against Moses Itauma, who is currently ranked No.1 by the major sanctioning body.
