Keith Thurman- A waste of talent, or he never had it to be the top guy?
What are your thoughts on Keith Thurman? He got his ass kicked by Manny and kinda retired after that. Kinda young to have retired, too. Was he a waste of talent or was he all talk and never had it in him to be the top guy?
I loved the way they made the Danny Garcia fight for him. That was a defining fight for both of them. Arguably, it was the Spence v Crawford before Spence v Crawford. It was the fight to make despite promoters bungling the promotions and mismanaging the fight hype.
But, what do you guys have to say about Thurman? Is he retired now?
Re: Keith Thurman- A waste of talent, or he never had it to be the top guy?
I was a big fan of Thurman and really thought he was going to beat Spence and prove he was the best at weight after he beat Porter and Garcia.
Then he stalled for whatever reason injuries or not getting the big fights. I think he sold his 0 when he faced Manny Pac.
Thurman is making a comeback against an Australia against Brock Jarvis in March. Thurman is the underdog and will lose. He is too old now.

have you seen much of brock? keith is old but he's a live dog here. it's a good match up for the promoters because if brock wins they can use the win to build him back up, if keith wins they can use it to build a fight with timmy

Actually I have not seen Jarvis fight but assumed he was the favourite and bringing in the old champ to beat up at his place.

He was a OK Boxer, but Thurman was overhyped and had way too high an opinion of himself. When the time came to dare to be great he wasn’t up to it.

Thurman won very well beating up Brock and knocking him out in the 3rd round.
Not bad for a person who fights every 5 years.

"One Time" Thurman ? More like "Part Time" Thurman.
Feed this fraud to Vergil Ortiz.
Part Time literally went from about to be a star at welterweight to sitting out his prime then coming back and sitting out more years. I read he was really demanding $10m to fight Boots ? I'd love to see that fight. They need to get Boots a name opponent and Part Time fits the bill perfectly.

brock has no chin. timmy v keith should still be fun, if errol is still wanting to fight a keith fight could also be fun

Jarvis made Thurman look dangerous—dare I say, smoke and mirrors? Thurman shook off the rust in two rounds and started looking sharp. Hot take: If Keith fights like he did in the third against Tszyu, he gives him a hell of a night.

It was good seeing that ring rust coming off Thurman round by round. Jarvis was a hype job who fought at much lighter weights so he was the one cashing out.
Thurman has carefully managed himself so he may not fight again for another 3 years. :)
