Greg Haugen Has Passed Away

A true professional. It is often overlooked that he did not 'learn to fight' in Alaskan toughman contests. On the contrary he polished his skills in over 350 amateur fights. Not naturally physically gifted, he compensated by being very sound technically, always being in shape, and he enjoyed a good fight. May he rest in peace.

Re: Greg Haugen Has Passed Away
Greg Haugen’s career was defined by grit, skill, and a fearless attitude. He battled Vinny Pazienza in a thrilling trilogy, handed Hector "Macho" Camacho his first loss, and boldly trash-talked Julio César Chávez before their fight—only to suffer a brutal defeat in front of 130,000 fans, one of the biggest crowds in boxing history.
He may not have been the flashiest, but Haugen was a true fighter who never backed down from a challenge. Rest easy, champ.

Greg Haugen was crazy tough and great personality. What a man and career. Involved in huge fights and was strong as nails. Gave us boxing fans fantastic memories.
RIP champ.
Re: Greg Haugen Has Passed Away
Rest easy now Mutt. I always liked Haugen. Just a complete down to Earth no flash no frills talker of truth. A matter of fact type. And it always seemed like he was smirking ;D. Wasn't pretty in or out of the ring but also underrated cagey and he could box on a higher level that just being "tough". The trilogy with Pazienza will always flash me back, just a genuine hard bitter rivalry but with some measured mutual respect. A little bit at least. Rest in peace Champ and thank you for the memories.
