F*ck Tarver and the casuals BUT...
RJJ won their first fight. It was the right decision. There was no robbery. Watch that fight. Tarver was hitting gloves all night long. He didn't hit RJJ cleanly very much. He was not "catching" RJJ with anything RJJ was not able to see and either block or duck under.
No disrespect to Tarver, but shut that shit up. RJJ beat you the first fight. It was no robbery. We all know how the trilogy ended and you came out on top, but stop it. RJJ was better that first night.
Re: F*ck Tarver and the casuals BUT...
You do a rewatch recently? Been awhile but I think I had Tarver actually edging it...but but but it's been years ;D. And no def not a robbery. All you ever hear when the first fight is mentioned is how Roy already killed his own career going to heavy then coming back down. I've never really bought that and even if it makes sense...so what. That's on Jones and being another in a long line of top fighters thinking weight divisions are just afterthoughts. That whole time frame was weird with Roy and even the early talk of fighting Tyson...and then Buster Douglas :cwm13:...and then onto Ruiz. Tarver pretty much erased any robbery talk in the rematch though. Unfortunately for Roy that's what is largely remembered. Good shout out on first fight. Have to try to catch it again soon and dig up old score sheet.

Roy won the first fight for me and he should never have fought him again.
If Roy could do it all again he would have retired after beating Ruiz.

I don't think he would have retired. He loved the fight game and would have continued on until he did.

Yea. I think people were of the opinion that RJJ needed competition and they needed to find someone who could have at least come close. Much like they did Mayweather for the last five years of his career.
Thing is, Tarver had no high-ground to claim that first fight was a robbery. He did not win that fight under any premise.

I didn’t have Tarver winning the first fight, but I scored it 114-114. It was the first time in years that Jones looked vulnerable, and no one had pushed him like that since the first Griffin fight. Tarver’s size, sharp counters, and ability to make Jones uncomfortable may have influenced some into scoring it for him.
