Re: Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Anthony
Deontay looking for an easy payday before calling it quits from boxing. Herndon should present little to no threat for Wilder, as he gives up significant advantages in size and power. At 39, the end is near for Deontay and he knows it. No way he ever gets back anywhere near the elite level.
Looking back at his defeats, I would say he gave a good account of himself in the 3rd Fury fight. Tyson just had his number, and there was nothing Wilder could do about it. His TKO loss versus Zhang was predictable. No way Deontay was going to survive in there against a big brute with a rock-hard chin and heavy hands.
The loss that continues to confound me, and stands out as the huge drop in Wilder stock, was his UD loss to Parker. No disrespect to Parker, who I consider an overachiever in the heavyweight ranks. But WTF... Going into the fight, I honestly thought Wilder would take care of business. Yet he put on a pathetic display, which in my mind plummeted him all the way down to the bottom. His loss against Zhang was the proverbial icing on the cake of Deontay's downfall.
So here he is... looking to cash out before going on his merry way to do I don't know what. Best of luck to him... and I hope he has matured since his crazy talk days.

There's been a fair share of that in boxing in this era.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Anthony
I've given Wilder stick from the start and what fit best for me was a "manufactured" product. That doesn't mean he was a complete fraud at all. But his flaws were blinding but like a few before him and too many after him, they became trained into his skill set, glossed over never fixed and a part of what we saw. Overshadowed increasingly by a 1 or 2 shot eraser. Next thing you know sober fans are mixing Tyson and Wilder in the same sentence. Which was nuts lets just be straight. But honestly, I wish he would exit the game and let it be. He doesn't need to take more punches and the boxing cynic in me says he may very well score an old school highlight reel KO this weekend...may...and we know, we just know that some money bag boxing vultures would like to move him into a higher level "big" fight next out. There's no way he's cashing out in some bingo hall in BF Witchita Kansas. That shell will be shined up and talked up and passed on. That's the point where guys soak up lasting damage, more of it. I hope he retires.

Popped dirty not once but twice :-X and blew the first fight date. Even then Ortiz had Wilder wobbling and reeling before the roof collapsed on him late, in both fights.
