i think it only proves hes not good at 157 ...he was a great at 140 ...hes defeated Oscar delahoya ,Pernell Whitaker,Ricardo Mayorga and David Reid & william Joppy,he only has 2 losses on his record ...he seems to do well against other champions

He did good. But whenever he faced a style like Hopkins or DLH or Winky, he had trouble. Pernell Whitaker was WAAAAAAY past it, I mean COME ON!

I have to agree. he was a great puncher, but not a great boxer. He was a level below Oscar and Bernard IMO. Maybe an all time great Puerto Rican fighter, but not an ATG fighter

Trinidad is great in the eyes who thinks he is great. I liked him, But he was not the kind of fighter to adapt to other diverse styles to win.(Couldn't change it up!

Tito was just an exciting fighter. He might be my favorite of all time. At least top three. It wasn't because of his skill level. He wasn't scared of anyone, would fight anyone, had power in both hands, he would stand and deliver with bigger guys, take a knockdown and get right back up. He always brought excitement to the table, even though his boxing skills weren't great.
In his defense,{even though his boxing skills weren't that good}, Tito had the Mike Tyson demise. By the time he fought Oscar, he was KOing everyone, and his fundamentals, especially the jab went out the window. Tito would lose rounds without worry, just waiting for a mistake to punish the other fighter. Vargas, Reid,Oscar, even William Joppy was outboxing him, but got caught. Just like Tyson, when Tito got the KO mentality, he wasn't worried about winning rounds, just the KO. Tito was also one of the best finishers ever.
Also, by the time he fought Wright{who was peaking},Tito had only fought twice in about 4 years. Against two guys who would stand right in front of him, not boxers. Wright would have won a decision regardless, but it would have been a better fight a few years earlier.
I guess, him not being the best boxer is one thing I liked. You knew he could lose almost every fight he was in, but pulled it out with spectacular fashion. I can't say he's an all time great, but he's an all time favorite of mine.

:coolclick: Great post. Basically everything you said...I wanted to say...especially the last part... I can't say he's an all time great either, but he's entertaining from time to time...just not an all time favorite of mine.
Personally...I thought he looked great against so so fighters...but horrible against a skilled boxer.

i liked Tito think he robbed DLH but he was a great fighter that just went out of his weight group too much... i see the same thing happening with mayweather in the future if im honest ;)

Stole the words out of my mouth. I personally think Tito could actually come back and beat a lot of the middleweights (most certainly the junior middleweights) and win if he had a few confidence boosting fights. Unfortunately Winky's defence just made it impossible for him, but cmon, not many fighters are on Winky's level defensively.

Cool Click,I am a massive Tito fan,I found that he had an awesome style to watch but as you say, becames over relaint on that 1 big punch. I still thought he was going to crush Winky though!!! Also,against Mayorga,I thought he boxed very well,some nice movement,good jab and trademark power shots,awesome accuracy too!

Tito was such an entertaining fighter and always had a come forward approach
his only problem was that skilled fighters who boxed him rather than toe to toe would usually outclass him.
