MANFREDO JR-LACY IN DISCUSSION!
By G. Leon
Boxingtalk.com receieved a call from Jeff Wald, the executive producer and partner of the Tournament of Cotender group. Wald informed us that TOC has been in discussions with Gary Shaw for a Peter Manfredo-Jeff Lacy showdown later this year. According to Wald, Manfredo Jr trainer Freddie Roach was mistaken when he informed Boxingtalk's Brad Cooney that Manfredo could be fighting Joe Calzaghe. "We're discussing a Jeff Lacy fight with Gary Shaw, but there have been absolutely no discussions regarding Joe Calzaghe." Stay tuned to our front page for all the latest!

Why in the world would they want to match Manfredo with Lacy? Oh he beat a shot Pemberton, big deal. This is a total mismatch. Lacy is going to destroy Manfredo, and I am a fan of Manfredo's. But he is just not ready yet.

lacy would crush that fool
Re: ITS LACY-MANFREDO NOT MANFREDO-CALZAGHE

EXACTLY!! Personally I dont think they have any intentions of actually making this fight. It does neither fighter any good. Manfredo is not a challenge for Lacy, and Manfredo will not learn anything by getting knocked senseless by Lacy. I think they are just trying to keep Manfredo's name out there.

Bilbo i was thinking that the PPV buys for Manfredo v Gomez the trilogy!! Might actully break the one million barrier.
Actually I think Gomez is sticking to 154 lbs. DLH, Mosely then Mayweather is his chosen route before his mega rematch with Ishe Smith!
WHAT A NAIL BITER THAT WOULD BE... MAYBE IF WE COULD STOP THE BARRAGE OF HEADBUTS THE ALL POWERFUL JOEY GILBERT COULD GET ANOTHER SHOT
Yeah it's quite ironic really that on the Contender Manfredo either lost, or just scraped a win against everyone he fought.
lost to Gomez, then won by a whisker against Miguel, won by a split decision over Joey Gilbert, won by a whisker against Gomez, lost easily to Mora, Then seemed to decision Mora in another close fight, then on moving UP TWO WEIGHT DIVISIONS! beat the S*** out of a top 10 ranked supermiddleweight.
One must conclude that the Contender series must have managed to sign some of the greatest talents in the world right now, I mean how else can you explain that Manfredo lost to an unknown welterweight with a 9-2 record in Gomez then took on and beat a world class operator like Pemberton who fought 3 divisions up from Gomez?
I reckon by end of 2007 Gomez, Ishe Smith, Manfredo and Mora will all be world champs. Joey Gilbert and Miguel Espino will be number 1 contenders.
It's going to happen
I MUST ADMIT, BILBO THAT YOUR WEALTH OF KNOWLEGE IS STAGERING... I WAS THINKING THE VERY SAME THING... MORA WILL DEFFINITLY BE A CHAMP SEEING THAT HE HITS LIKE A JACKHAMMER AND ALL... I DONT KNOW HOW THE CONTENDER DID IT... THEY FOUND A FOUNTAIN OF.........WELL.... ....SUPER BOXERS....ITS AMAZING!!!
Hits like a jackhammer! I like that! I think he has 3 knockouts in 17 fights or something doesn't he? Only Zuri Lawrence has a worse record in boxing.
HE'S A CREAMPUFF BUT I'LL GIVE HIM THAT HE'S IN GOOD SHAPE AND EVEN THOUGH I FEEL MANFREDO WON THE SECOND BOUT HE DID WELL... PETER HAS SOME MEDIUM POWER. NOTHING EXTAORDINARY, THOUGH. AND YEAH I THINK HIS KO'S ARE SOMETHING LIKE THAT...HEHEHE
Re: ITS LACY-MANFREDO NOT MANFREDO-CALZAGHE
OH.... BILBO AND I MAY HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY SARCASTIC IN THE LAST THREAD
