Re: Going vegan for 21 days
Good luck with the diet. Try making it a lifestyle that you will carry on and keep the exercise going.
Nice start to the year.

good luck, I went Vegan for over 2 years... has its pros and cons in the end I just got pissed off being ripped off for almond milk and my bones just didn't feel they where getting enough to be strong enough to lift and run... but your skin, cholesterol and mind will benefit tenfold if you keep to healthy vegan stuff.

I'm worried about the bones part and the lifting weights part. But, went to the gym today and I don't feel any less stronger had I been eating meat. It's still early yet, but I will monitor my activity.
The first time I went vegan was over 30 years ago. I felt the difference. Lost a few teeth in the process, but don't feel like it was an overall bad experience.

Best of luck mate. I don’t profess to be an expert, but The thing about challenges like this are
the mental benefit you get from proving you can do it.
And then when it’s done, you don’t need to continue forever , but it would be good to incorporate some of it into a normal diet and lifestyle moving forward so your balance is better.

Re: Going vegan for 21 days
i just recently started eating meat again back in september after seven years as a vegetarian. from my experience they both have their pros & cons. i see it like most things, moderation is key. there is a lot more to health than just eating right. good sleep, some exercise, good food, less stress, laughter & lots more. i was going to mention fasting as well, those shorter 72 hour fasts seemed to be great for me. each person is different though & you have to approach it from how your body responds & what it's telling you
Re: Going vegan for 21 days
I think fasting would be a good way to go for me. At the moment 12 hours is enough for me 8pm to 8am.

yep depends on your lifestyle, sometimes eating dinner earlier, say before 5pm then not again until breakfast. i think people eat too much. 3 meals a day is a lot for me. i used to sometimes just eat one big meal at dinner, now just breakfast & dinner
Re: Going vegan for 21 days
Portion control is another good way to stay healthy. We eat way too much and often.
Snacking is a bad habit too.
Re: Going vegan for 21 days
I love to snack. But, good news, I'm down another 6 pounds or so. Came into the New Year at 245lbs and now down to 237lbs... This Daniel Fast seems to have some benefits. Still running 6 days a week and going to the gym just as many times. Only thing is, because of the diet, I can't lift as much as I used to or for as long as I want. So, instead of getting 225lbs for 10 reps, I can only do about 4 or 5... and then have to work my way down.

usually never eat till my evening meal and maybe have a snack at night... been like that for years and i doubt i could even eat 3 meals a day even if i wanted to. Might give fasting a go just to see what it does.

sounds like you are already doing mini fasts. i think term breakfast comes from eating after the time you are not eating while sleeping, break fast. i tend to find my body knows what it needs, when i used to get sick, like 10 years ago, i noticed i had no appetite, i put it down to my body not needing food getting in the way while it was trying to heal itself, like a type of fast. so i started doing longer fasts, just to clean out my body every so often & my health has only improved since. note this is not advice, just my experience
Re: Going vegan for 21 days
I fried some porkchops last night. lolol... only so long can that fast go on for. But I am trying to control it in the day and have no meats or animal products during the day at least.;D
