Former WBO title challenger Mger Mkrtchian (23-2, 17 KOs) seized the European super middleweight crown of previously unbeaten Jackson Chanet (26-1, 15 KOs) with an upset eleventh round knockout Friday night at the Parc des Expositions de Reims in Reims, France. What was a very tough fight ended with Chanet finally sinking to the canvas after a vicious exchange. He was counted out and stayed on the canvas for some anxious moments before regaining his senses. Chanet entered the bout rated #1 by the WBA. He was the mandatory challenger for world champion Mikkel Kessler.

Well it shows that Chanet wasn't ready so there was no point in him fighting one of the big boys, if he was ready he would have handled Mger, maybe he can come back
