If Calzaghe retired tomorrow would Lacy then dominate the SMW division?
If Calzaghe retired tommorrow would Lacy then dominate the super middle division..? -if so who would be his hardest challenger?
If not who would dominate the spot?
(This question is inspired by Bigcat of ESB - I find it a good question and allowed myself to ask it in this forum)
Re: If Calzaghe retired tomorrow would Lacy then dominate the SMW division?
i think kessler could be the dark horse in this division
Re: If Calzaghe retired tomorrow would Lacy then dominate the SMW division?
I don't think Lacy will be the same after 12 rounds of what JC gave him.
Mentally it's gonna eat him up 8)
I think Beyer or kessler would take him as i saw f*ck all that impressed me
Re: If Calzaghe retired tomorrow would Lacy then dominate the SMW division?
I can't comment on Kessler as I haven't seen anything of him - from what I here and read, he sounds like the real deal!!
Re: If Calzaghe retired tomorrow would Lacy then dominate the SMW division?
he'll have to beat Kessler and Markus Beyer....not easily done
Re: If Calzaghe retired tomorrow would Lacy then dominate the SMW division?
Personally...I think that if Lacy improves his defense then he'll be fine.
The thing about 168 right now is this...there is only one other fighter out there that could really really hurt Lacy IWO...that's Kessler.
Beyer would be a bit of a task...but Lacy could beat him as he is not on the same level as Calzaghe in skill or power. Beyer is just waiting to be beaten.
Kessler is a different story...Kessler has power, he can box, & he can take a shot.
Lacy has power & can take a shot...but he just needs to concentrate on his boxing & defense.
Kessler vs Lacy would be a hell of a fight...but it'd be no walk in the park for Kessler like most of my fellow Kessler fans believe.

Not at all, once Joe showed how much Jeff was a 1 trick pony anyone who would face him would know how to out box him.

Knowing how to do it and being able to do it are very different though. Calzaghe is a fantastic boxer and made it look easy, but I doubt that there are many other guys in the division that are better than Lacy.

OK, I hate to admit this, especially in a Royal thread, but my new rankings at the division are:
1-Calzaghe
2-Kessler
3-Lacy
(I think a Lacy-Kessler fight could go either way, but Mik deserves the benefit of the doubt for the good of the division and Beyer is a distant 4th)

Yes, and Michael Moorer said that right after Byrd beat Tua. he went out there and tried to box Tua like Byrd did and got knocked out. Watching someone do it and successfully doing it is two different things and not everyone can do what Calzaghe does.
