Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
Here's me question to the forum:
Question: After that win...does everyone really believe that Cintron is all that?
Wacko's answer: Not really. I know that you are only as good as your last fight in most boxing fan's eyes....but I truly do believe that that is the wrong way to look at it.
Since the Margarito loss Cintron has TKO'd his last two opponants.
Against Estrada...he was loosing ground in the fight. He was open for the left hand all night...something that he was also open to against Margarito.
Is the fact that everyone loves a puncher the reason why everyone is sold on Cintron?
I am not that big of a "puncher fan"...I'm more of a technical boxer fan...so I can't say that I really appreciate Cintron. Not to say that he aint fun to watch...but I just aint sold.
I think that a tactical boxer would pretty much wear his ass out.
Youv'e read my answer...now gimmee yours. What's the what on Cintron?
Re: Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
He's got enough power to be dangerous but he's not that good defensively
But I knew that allready, but I was impressed and it was for one major reason, I thought after the Margarito fight that a guy like Estrada who keeps coming and keeps pressuring you might make Kerm wilt mentally but he stayed together, didn't quit and kept coming back. He needed to show that after he basically got bullied into quitting versus Tony.
Re: Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
He showed more mental toughness and I was surprised by that. Also,in all honesty,I love all types of fighters including a guy with 1 punch KO power and as long as he has that,he is always in with a chance. You are right,he could be easily outboxed but then again,we could be wrong and he could land the bomb and end it! I think he has a bright future and he is still resonably young isn't he? I can see him picking up an alphabet soup title somewhere.

Agreed...his defensive abilities...or lack of them really worries me.
I was impressed...but if he rematches Margarito...I'd expect it to end the same way.

He did indeed keep his head on. I expected him to lose.

Again...agreed.
I wonder who he fights next?
Re: Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
Wasn't this fight some sort of IBF eliminator? Anyway,I'd rather Tony did not fight him again,he would beat him up just as bad again! I'd like to see Cintron in the title mix simply because he is exciting to watch. What if Gatti wins and fights him, that would be a war!
Re: Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
I like him against a lot of the "top" guys, but not the elites.
The likes of Zab, Gatti, Baldomir are, I think, very beatable for him.
Of course PBF would dismantle him, Mosley would, Margarito would again.
His trainers need to worry about how easily a left hook finds his face and I don't like that tendency to leave his "jab" out there as a range finder all night.
I don't know if these are things Manny S. will correct or if he's just permanently flawed.

I wen't with glorified puncher.... 8)

:coolclick:
That's exactly what I thought. He clearly has his head back in the fight game and delivered with his back against the wall. He isn't ready for the top yet but with more work with Manny Steward he will be. It may have not been the most sound performance technically, but that's not what he needed imo. Great fight and he showed a warrior's mentality. Just what the doctor ordered.
Plus that power doesn't hurt ;D
Re: Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
I don't think much.
Ishe Smith and Shane Mosley had easier times with Estrada.
Sure Cintron came back and won the fight, but given his size, that fight shouldn't have even been that close or that difficult.
He can punch, but nothing else, he will probably get far on his power alone but once he steps up he will lose.

I on the other hand, favor a puncher. And I sorta like Cintron, feel sorry for him cus both his parents are dead and he broke down against Tony. But he is still slow and one dimensional. He also measures with the jab constantly, rarely throws a lead right hand, and is very hittable. He is a top contender but needs to work on some things, cus he is not in Margarito, Floyd, or Zab's class. The best possible fight out there for him competitvely would be to wait a lil while, then have a huge PR showdown with Miguel Cotto, that would be awesome.
Re: Regarding Kermit "the Killer" Cintron...
Cintron and Cotto are cousins aren't they?

Thanks I thought so too. Heres a CC back at ya. By the way who wins in a Cintron vs Baldomir or Cintron vs Gatti showdown?

Cintron...on both questions.
