This is the day of days in my sporting career," said new IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko after his seven round destruction of Chris Byrd Saturday night in Mannheim, Germany. "I am very proud.....the Klitschko Brothers made it again! It doesn't matter if it's one of us or both of us." After 37 months between world champion reigns, Klitschko said he wants to "defend my title and much better, get another one. Let's go for some other belts!" Wladimir's trainer Emanuel Steward said afterward that Klitschko now stands alone at the top of the heavyweight division. "I don't see anyone on the hozizon, even in the amateurs, that's going to beat him," stated Manny. "He can hold this title until he retires."

"I'm disappointed, for sure," said Chris Byrd after the fight. "But, I've still got a lot of boxing in me, I think.....He's 241 pounds of muscle and I'm 212 pounds of bulked-up muscle, not even real muscle. I felt I could go in there and push him around [but] it didn't work out for me."
What do you guys think? Can anyone stop him?
WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING BYRD? PUSH HIM AROUND.....THE GUY IS LIKE 6'5...GOOD LUCK TO VALUEV EVEN PUSHING HIM AROUND LET ALONE YOU. I think wlad could reign...needs to sought out stamina issues though.
Re: Klitschko wants to unify
I hope he is able to unify before some fat guy who can punch comes along.
A lot of people point to him surviving Sam Peter as proof that he's a new fighter,
but I don't think those people saw the fight.

I saw the fight but yeah he isn't a remade fighter, just learned he could get up and not have to completely fall apart.

i think hes already done that,
look at when he goes for the KO after byrd goes down the first time (hes now at the point where unless he has someone hurt he only thorws straight, jab, and left hook)
when he went to KO byrd he took his time, and threw his punches after measuring, he really didnt go all out

thats because when he went all out Byrd clocked him with a wild right hand that effected Wlad's balance, so he stepped back and measured. because rushing Chris Byrd is the absolute last thing to do as defensive as he can be, and in the end thats what saved him from getting stopped in the 5th, that and his heart, and nto many people can get up at 5 when they are hit on the temple by a clean Wladimer right hand. only Brewster and Byrd ;D
Re: Klitschko wants to unify
i did see the right your referring to,
i think he also took it down a notch cuz he realized byrd wasnt gonna fall and he was hitting gloves with a small amount of the punches

That too, Byrd didn't panick he went defensive, sad thing is he should have been doing all the juking jiving and moving BEFORE he got hurt.
Re: Klitschko wants to unify
i think he convinced himself that he was blocking the jab, while alot of the jabs were thrown at byrds glove to get a feel for the angle, and he got confident with his hands being where they were then...BAM and the rights started coming
Re: Klitschko wants to unify
Yep. Byrd did what he needed in the first round but he was standing to upright for him, going the the body was right but he should have also been circling to his right away from Wladimer's right hand, forcing Wlad to use his left, I'm not saying Byrd would have won if he did that, but he would have lasted longer and probably not have been decked, but Byrd circled to his left which is where Wladimer throws his right so that was his BIG mistake.
