Just watched Augustus/Burton...how do you get to be professional judge?
Seems like a good gig, travel around and get paid to watch fights. Apparently, you don't have to even pretend you know what you are doing. Holy shiat! 99-90 for Burton????
Teddy Atlas was awesome as he berated the official! "You call yourself an official?! You don't even know the rules! You don't even know what a majority decision is!" That was great!
Seriously now...how to you get to be a judge??
Re: Just watched Augustus/Burton...how do you get to be professional judge?
It's where they put failed soccer referees.
Re: Just watched Augustus/Burton...how do you get to be professional judge?
I imagine by having a friend on some commission somewhere, is often a likely case.. The thing that really makes me sick about it is that they probably make a good living.. While often making sure good fighters don't have the chance to.. This was really one of the worst robberies ever, and all 3 judges should have been banned without question... What a joke.. There was maybe 1 or 2 rounds I could possibly see giving to Burton.. I mean why even have the fight in cases liek this.. Just ask the fucking judges who wins and every go home ::**

Well, the one judge did have it 98-94 for Augustus.

now everyone knows why I say Give Augustus Justice :D
Re: Just watched Augustus/Burton...how do you get to be professional judge?
Yea my bad, I forgot there was one judge who did score it for him.. Still so terrible though, and it wasn't as close as 98-94 even.

It wasn't but that referee docked him 2 or 3 points. It was an all around disgrace.

The funniest thing about it, is that they were obviously on Burtons side for whatever reason.. But they're giving him the fight does him far more harm then good, because he just goes on to get KOed every single time he's in against a real fighter.. Emanuel proved he didn't belong anywhere near his class, yet he still got another good match, got KTFO, then went on to get KTFO twice more, all by fighters about as good as Augustus... Pretty Ironic really.

I don't get how he got shots at 3 title contenders. Doesn't make sense...

kind of like Vargas getting the decision against Winky and running into Felix trinidad ;)

Ref took away 1 point.

That's what it says on boxrec but if I remember correctly, he also took away points for a "lowblow" in one of the middle rounds.

Well not really, because Vargas was in a competitive fight with Winky and then a war with Trinidad, both were great fights and he wasn't outclassed in either.. Burton was schooled yet got the crooked decision which allowed him to fight more dangerous punchers and get KTFO.

He was only warned for low blows. Bullshit as well, as the one "low" punch should have been scored a knockdown for Augustus.
