Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
Ailing Muhammad Ali cuts a sad figure as he makes a rare outing-using a Zimmer frame to walk.
The three-time World heavyweight champion had to be helped by a pal as he arrived at a New York hotel.
Ali,64 has fought a 25-year battle against Parkinson's disease.
His condition is said to have deteriorated dramatically over the last 12 months.

Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
there was talk of him being ringside for the wlad - brock fight as Laila Ali is on the undercard but cant see it happening judging by that photo :(

Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
Yeah i'd be very suprised if he made it too.
Such a shame to that there's no known cure for Parkinson's disease

Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
Though it breaks my heart to see him like this........He said in an interview once that he never wants anyone to feel sorry for him......
He said he has had a life that almost no one else can ever have and he is greatful for it all.........
Out of respect for one of my heros I refuse to look at him like a broken down man who suffers....
As far as I am concerned he is the greatest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me if he wants to be at the fight he will be there. That is the one thing you can't take away from Ali, his determination to do what he sets out to do.

I do respect Ali smashup its just X normally posts that he couldnt care less that some celebrity who means nothing to him has died.
So wandering why the difference for Ali?
Personally I do think it's a real shame, but then I also thought Steve Irwins death was a tragedy too ;)

Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
That is a saddening picture. Thats the thing with father time it waits for noone. And suffering from illness the overall picture looks even more dramatic....
He is indeed still a champ, no matter how weak he is looking...

To be honest Danny Williams usually looks the same whenever he fights, same vacant stare and aura of lifelessness :P

If you wanna post like that then you should get over to my "Will Raleights return?" thread! :P
There is no need to mention the name Danny Williams on this thread. Most tasteless!! :)

I'm actually being an optimist. I mean all you lot are saying how bad Ali looks now as if his life is over, but Danny still fights as a professianal looking pretty much the same, apart from a bigger wasitline and a food trolley instead of a walking frame ;)

The Ali picture is sad, but for me it is inevitable that a man at his age and with his condition would start to show wear and tear....
As Ali says, he has lived a life that has been filled with amazing accomplishments. To live a far longer life and achieve very little is perhaps more tragic. Its a matter of perspective...
He is still here and his life, though now more difficult, is still very much intact...
Its not all sadness....

Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
It's very sad to see.
The Parkinson's has taken it's toll as he looks a lot older than 64.
He's had to live with it a lot longer than most, so it was inevitable.
-
Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
Some of the fights he was in,although legendary bouts were so brutal.
Frazier springs to mind when neither could come out for the 15th round.
Ali collapses moments after and is dragged to his stool.
He took some really bad punishment over the years, anyone who's seen the Holmes fight will agree.
Unreal they even let him climb through the ropes that night.
Was a disgrace >:mad

He chose to do it, and as fight fans we should not knock him for it....
He is a special person, and he did what most of us can and will not do...
He is a boxing legend. No less....

Not to nit-pick, but Ali has Pugilistic Dementia(Parkinson like symtoms, punch drunk), he doesn't actually have Parkinson's disease. A lot boxing fans refer to it as ordinary Parkinsons disease in order absolve boxing of any blame.

I agree.
He was taking dopamine tablets in 1980, so they must have known that he had Parkinson's.
The boxing authorities & Herbert Muhammad should hang their heads in shame.

True.
Howver my point was that I cannot give a fuck if someone I don't know or care about dies. Especially when all of society goes into tooth gnashing bleating about it simply because they are expected to.
Muhammad Ali means a lot to me, and I will be genuinely grieving when the time comes.
Others, to whom he means nothing, will not. At least they will be being honest - like I am.

Is that true then? I was always under the impression that he had Parkinsons, nothing to do with boxing. Just like Michael J Fox and all the other non-boxers.

I'm with X here... kind of... Every time some one dies on the internet there are 1000s of threads full of 'RIP' :( etc... but people are just going through the motions... unless I genuinley feel a connection to the person (such as Ali) or know them then I won't shit: people die all the time.
I don't agree with making jokes about it, disrespectful or not it's not exactly nice for the people who genuinley loved the dead to see all the cheap crap flying around is it?

Re: Sad Ali picture... Legend Deteriorating Dramatically in last 12 months
Oh I just sneakily read back ,what went down!
That bloke (Spoiled rotten) got banned ,hung crap on Ali for a false religion dammed him to hell etc!
That fellow is (IN JUdgment) something his own religion tells him not to go into!
Its a stage on his own path ,it will get reflected back into him as self judgment.
It is judgment of others that is the cause of all our troubles both on earth and in our slow ascension through the many possible dimensions.
There are false ideals in all religions because they are man made.
Its there because we have to work through them so we eventually can come together as one.
Yeshua or (Jesus as the greeks would have you say it) had tolerance of all things becuase he knew that God is love and love allows all things.
The rest of the rules were written as a direction for speed in asscension; not a set of rules for ;you do or else ! as it has been portrayed by all the men who have changed scripture so as to control the masses through each religion.
Forgivness of yourself and then others is the gateway its not the journey or the end there is never an end.
Yeshua is the way and the light that shines the way to begin getting out of here ,but it was spun out of context so that one religion could claim to be the only one as they have all tried.
Religion is not God made, its man made.
We are all blessed we are all forgiven everything at the point of asking.
Then the gate opens.
(thought you may as well know the real truth) ;)

This is how Ali will be remembered in my eyes ;)
Imo probably his greatest display of pure boxing skill.
His speed is amazing.

It's hypocritical and patronising to be honest. Basically what X is saying is that when he pays respect to someone who has died it's a worthy and meaningful act but when others do it, it means nothing. Can you (X) not comprehend that the way you feel about Ali, some people might actually have felt the same way about other people?
Personally I was very upset to hear of the death of Steve Irwin, and I'm sure many millions of others were around the world. To suggest that all of them, and me, were just mimicking politically correct banalities whilst your own words of respect towards Ali are somehow heartfelt and more worthy just makes no sense to me.
Paying respects to the dead or the misfortunate is not or certainly should not be a case of miming or going through the politically correct motions. It's about respect, plain and simple. I do not need to have known someone personally in order to feel sorry for their loss, if you do then that says more about yourself than about the rest of the world. ;)
By the way, this was aimed at X not AdamGB :P
