Excuse for what? He took a fight at a weight he wasnt comfortable at and won it. Whats the problem with going back down to his natural weight division? Its not like he was having trouble making light welter before he went up - thats just where the money was at the time.Quote:

He did have some troubles with weight and he promised Collazo a rematch and didn't deliver. Trust me man, I'm nat a Hatton hater. In fact, I'm one of the few that doesn't think Collazo clearly won that fight. I can see why people say he won but I honestly believe the decision could have gone to either fighter.Quote:

He is a light welterweight it's that simple. I admire his balls to fight a welterweight champion at short notice, just leave the guy alone this is old news anyway.Quote:

Very fair comment mate. I would love it if Ricky beat Urango and Castillo while Collazo beat Mosley and THEN they had a rematch. Heres hoping....Quote:

F Hatton.Quote:

Face it Ricky, you were trying to chase the big money fight with floyd, but realized you can't keep up witht the big boys.
There should definitely be a rematch. Too many unanswered questions IMO.Quote:

And the talk of the collazo rematch..Well..Granted ricky should not have promised the rematch..
But in all fairness 140 is his division..And for as long as he can keep making it..Which is likely forever the way ricky trains and he is very diciplined..
He wanted lazcano..Hell i wanted to see lazcano..And it sounds like excuses excuses..But seriously..
7 Weeks to fill out into 147 is not enough..And fwok talk of cintron and all these..
In all honesty..Collazo was the best kept secret at welter..He is a seriously bad fighter.. Im a real fan of his..
But ricky won that fight by one point..Thats for the knockdown..Its was close..TOO CLOSE!!..
But ricky won.. You cant take that away..And he'll carry on doing what he do at 140..
Peace
Yeah I know mate your posting is all good ;). Ricky would fight Floyd at Welter (his words) but lets see what happens after DLH.Quote:

Like i said my brother....
The rematch talk.. Ricky shouldnt have said...
The excuses... They werent excuses...Its true..seriously..lol
And at the end of the day he needs no excuse theres facts.. theres the fact it was close
But he won... So fwock excuses..He won fair and square...He needs none...
He's going back to dominate his division at 140.
Ricky was going to face Lazcano at Light Welter (Rickys fighting weight) but Lazcano hurt his hand prior to the fight. HBO offer Ricky the chance to fight Welterweight Champion Luis Collazo instead as no other fight was available. Even though his camp advised him not to (Billy Graham mostly) he liked the idea of becoming a two weight world champ, so he agreed. He never officially moved up in weight at all so there is no way you can say he made excuses for coming back down. I cant make that any clearer.Quote:

#1: Hatton moved up to Welter.
#2: He fought Collazo.
#3: Collazo was waaaaaaaaaay more than he bargained for...way more.
#4: Hatton had plans of more than just one fight @ 147...anyone that says different needs to back track & check all the names that he mentioned when coming up.
#5: Hatton could not cut it at this weight. His power wasn't there...anyone could see that & he did the most intelligent thing possible...he moved back down...if he hadn't...he'd hate lost.
All that being said...I like Hatton, I'm not a fan per say, but I do like the kid...there aint much about him not to like.
I was upset that he didn't give Collazo the rematch & I think that he lost the fight...he just wasn't effective enough to beat him down the stretch.
Let's just hope that he can handle dropping back down to 140 so soon.
Oh yeh while he was there the talk was....
When he won the wba title Urkal was the mandatory... And he was to fight otkay
But no one wanted that fight..But they wanted him at welter still...
I feel perhaps he should have fought otkay...
Yes ricky's power wasnt there..But that was due to a seven week camp to make weight..
Ricky usually looks and seems more built and powerful in a fight..I believe it was to little a time to do the weight..
But whatever it was no excuses ..It was too close for comfort for my man...
Thank his stars he got that knockdown...
But on to bigger and better things....
In fairness..Ricky says what he means..He always said he wanted the top guys..He once wanted judah..
Jdah got sparked by Kostya..Then he wanted Kostya..Stopped Kostya..And now he wants glory and mayweather..And if anything stops the future mayweather bout..Its money..
Other wise..I know rick and floyd are real fighters and real men..And they would bash eachother up anyday of the week twice on sunday..
Peace
At the end of the day, you me and them weren't convinced of Ricky at WElterwieght and nobody can deny that. He was given a tough time by Collazo, and the fact that he won the belt and became a 2-weight champion seems a little beside the point. Having looked at his pictures in the build up to this fight, my concern is that he won't be able to make light-welterweight for too much longer, so that will give him little choice but campaigning at welterweight, where the big names and the big fights are, but he will need to show an awful lot more than he did against Collazo to be truly dominant at that weight.
He still only had 7 weeks to prepare no matter how you phrase it and I think he did good considering....Quote:

His actual words were that he would rematch him if the time and place was right just like he would tszyu, he didn't rule it out but that was it. Ricky Hatton now fights who HBO tell him to plain and simple.Quote:

:coolclick: Very good point. Totally agree...but if he takes some smart matches...he can pull it out...thing is...smart matches aint gonna get Hatton anymore love or respect.Quote:

Believe me...I want to see Hatton win some big fights...but it's debatable if he does.
You feel me?
It's not rocket science is it? Mayweather aint a big hitter at 147 and he certainly aint a full blown welter.Quote:
