I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
I have to say for a guy with 30+ fights Hamed is embarrassing , his chin gets higher and higher in the air as the fight goes on.
I never really liked Hamed for his big mouth , but Marco just takes him to school and shows what a great fighter he is , and has an ability to adapt his style for different opponents. This is something Hamed could not do , he had no plan B , i did find it very watchable as it shows a fighter with a sound technique will triumph over a LIMBO DANCER WITH POWER every time ;D ;D
I just wish it had been PACMAN catching Hamed ;D ;D
But anyway you guys tell me your views please

Personally MAB being one of my all time favourite fighters was fighting a unmotivated untrained shadow of his former self in Prince Nazeem Hamed, im not taking anything away from MAB, but the Naz in the ring that night was not the best of him far from it, he was slow predictable and was only throwing single punches. Just my take on it.

Thats just plain WRONG. How could naz not be motivated for the biggest fight of his life? The reason he wasnt at his best was because Barrera wouldnt let him be at his best, and was giving him a pasting. Face it, that was the best naz ever got, and when he fought a top line opponent he got beaten. That is the Truth.
You are taking away from MAB.

Agreed.
Naz said to himself,
"I trained my *ss off and did the best I can, and I still got my *rse kicked... I need to get out of this profession!!!" :o

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
I watch that again only a few days ago. From the 1st round it didn't look good for Naseem.
Hamed should have been prepared for Barrera. But he had no answers. Barrera fought a great fight & stuck to his game plan.
The Prince impressed me in taking the lose like a man though!

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Barrera ramming Hamed face first into the turn buckle never gets old

You obvioulsy havent seen the footage/documentry leading up this fight?? While MAB was training his arse off in the mountains of big bear, Naz was more intrested in bitching about not having the best room at the Casino he was staying and getting beaton up by his sparring partners, the problem with Naz and his shitty entourage is that he believed his hype to much, and he had to many yes men including Suarez and Manny, there was no discipline after he left Ingle, you just have to look at Mannys face when he came to see Naz spar prior to the fight where he looked like an old man and he was sparirng some average Mexican fighters who were showing him up, Manny looked like he saw a ghost, it was that shocking, Naz was no where near his best, bringing Suarez and Manny in was all wrong he lost all the fundamentals he learnt with Ingle and was now just relying on one shot power, you dont have to agree with me but im not hating on MAB thats how i see it i dont really like Naz i think he is a little turd but is very underrated Champion of his era and is only remembered by many as the " overrated fighter who got schooled", Naz was much more than that, but when his family took over his career and basically tried to milk every penny out of the NAZ brand, thats when it started to go down hill.
Im not saying that Naz would ever beat Barerra i cant make that prediction, but if you think that was Naz at his peak you have not seen much of Naz, if you think it was the level of MAB (Which i do obviouly plays a big part, hes aliving boxing legend) it was more down to Naz, go watch his final fight against an old European fighter called Calvo, who was probably a grade F opponent, Naz was absolutly shocking, the stadium was emptying before the 11th round he was that bad, like i said he had lost his hunger he had made a shit load of cash, and was living the high life, his heart was not in boxing no longer, hence the reason he hasnt fought since he was 27/28. Naz could of made maybe another 10/20 million pounds maybe more if he realy wanted but his fat lazy arse is not in and wasnt prior to the MAB fight.

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
I thought Barerra excecuted a simple plan perfectly. As alluded to above, Naz couldn't revert to a plan B because he was what he was.
There was also a genuine rumour (not neccesarily a true one) that Naz wasn't the same after he had his teeth done...
Anyway, what a character. I love the Kevin Kelly fight 8)

;D
Brendan Ingles teeth theory.
Is it just a coincidence that Naz never put on one stunning/tidy/impressive performance in the States? Some guys don't travel well.

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Or fiperform as well once they leave Frank Warren...
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Hatton has done well without Warren, otherwise he would be defending the WBU title for the 20 defence by now.
Naz during his prime would have put up a better effort than the one he did with MAB, and in my opinion beaten him, like Pacquia did, but he was rich and unmotivated but there is no shame in loosing to MAB on your record.
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
I watched the fight again last week and I can't believe how one sided it really was. I must have been in denial when I said it was a lot closer. Barrera just had his way with NAZ but patience was his greatest asset. Naz had been talking about this fight for ages. To say he was not prepared does not sit well with his claims to come to America with comments like: "I want Barrera, I will beat Barrera", etc..
I still enjoy watching NAZ fights. Very entertaining. Barrera was all business that night. It was personal.

Naz didnt train properly for the fight.Naz was a million miles away from his best and it wasnt to do with MAB not letting him.
He never even did his flip in the ring when did you ever not see Hamed do that? He also had problems with his gloves that night!
He should of admitted he had a bad night and gone for a rematch, where he trained for the fight and we would of saw a better Naz.But he got beat and did'nt want to know after that, what a waste of talent.

Sorry Nonito but I agree with him to a degree. he's not taking anything away from Barrera because he was great, and nobody is saying that even if Naz had showed up, the outcome wouldn't have been the same.
Simply though, Naz was not himself. Everything about that fight was just weird. The ring walk, the part were Buffer handed him the microphone so he could speak in arabic about allah. It just seemed wrong. I remember looking at Naz and thinking he looked a broken man before the fight. There was no confidence about him at all. watch the Kelley ringwalk for a comparison.

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Hamed expected Barerra to come forward so he could counter. When Barerra did the opposite Hamed's limitations as a fighter were shown up. He took some good shots round after round, a fighter that's not motivated would look for a way out IMO. He was just completely outboxed.
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
basically naz go way too big for his boots and in my opinion it all went downhill when he got rid of brendan ingle. He was so entertaining to watch he could have been somebody instead of could have been... we all see him as now.

YES I AGREE HAMED HAD TROUBLE WITH GLOVES THAT NIGHT...................THE ONES ATTACHED TO MARCO'S arms lol ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Actually also watched it again not too long ago.
Hamed's balance was such shit, looked like an amateur compared to Barrera.
And how did Harold Lederman find so many rounds to give to Hamed. I can't remember exactly but I think he had Hamed with 4 rounds. Maybe just three. I guess I could have given him one if I was being charitable.
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
^ like wise, it was basically a shut out. Need to rewatch it but I can only remember giving Naz one round.
I'll also find out what round Naz does the chicken dance and trys to hide it! ;D
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
He was completely done in by himself. If his work rate was up and he threw combos he would have beat Barrera. The only thing Hamed did well during the fight was his defence. His one punch at a time offence sucked.

Pacman would have stood a greater chance of getting knocked out then Barerra because of his style

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
i watch that fight once a week....i love the intensity that barrera brought to the ring if there was ever a fight he was primed for that was the fight against hamed...no one gave barrera a chance and he came won convincingly and left....he developed the perfect plan to fight hamed(keep away from hameds powerful right by stepping to the left side of hamed keeping well away from his right and counterpunching instead of coming forward ......great and masterful fight by barrera and i agree with comments that say naz had no plan b...he expected to walk into da ring bang with his hard right and go home with the money....HAMED was a great unorthodox fighter and very entertaining to watch but when he came against a true champion he folded and sad to say never showed the heart of a champion and retired after that one loss and even ended up in prison serving a sentence for reckless driving causing harm.....one of the best and most anticapated fights ever and was a beauty to watch....interseting to note when a interviewer asked BARRERA who was the hardest puncher he had ever faced B said hamed and his right
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
That wasprobably the happiest ive been afer a fight including my own. Barrera couldnt have won in better way. Just thinking about that fight makes me happy.

You are dreaming if you think Hamed could have beaten PACMAN . Look at who Pac has beaten ?
Look at Hameds remsume.
I agree PACMAN'S style would be better for Hamed , but also the far better fighter PACMAN would also be able to hit Hamed easily and KO him.

Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
It does annoy me that so many people see the negative side of Naz though and remember him for that. The guy was defeated once and won near every title there was at Featherweight. He also beat some quality fighters and above all else, he was exciting. People hated his cockiness, but for me it made him. He was ultra confident.
For me, people will be saying the same negative things about Amir Khan in 20 years from now.

I hated Naz, and cheered every punch Barrera landed on him. But I dissagree with the people that says he was a bum, and that he got shown up by the first real fighter he met. At his best he'd have given Barrera a much tougher fight, and would definitely given Pac a tough fight too.
He was a gifted fighter and certainly no bum, but he was no great either as he didn't have the right attitude to come back after taking his lumps.

thought u mite like this ;D
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
I thought that neather man really put there foot on the pedal and when they did Barrea had done enough. I dont believe both men were at their best so it was a bit of a shame, Hamed just looked lazy IMO and Barrera couldnt work off that and when he did he won the rounds and won the fight!
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
that night Barrera didnt really need to put his foot on the pedal
his face wen he got a point deducted for example
he was like yeah whateva i wont need it
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Yer but if he did he could have made it more exciting and pushed Hamed to work harder therefore we have an a lot better fight?
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
i do no wat ur saying
but cud he have taught him a bigger lesson than he did that nite????
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Yes it probs would have done but at least people would have got thier moneys worth.
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
lol
i never liked Naz notbecause he was a crapboxer cus i dont believe that but as a person
i no his sister well so i am not sayin just his boxing personality i mean his total personality
but as for the boxing side a true champion returns from defeat
and he didnt
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Thats unlucky for him i would have thought that this fight would have pushed him the most but obvs not!
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
yep
his one returning fight was a joke
he spent the time arguin with his dad over the ropes
there was talks of a return ???
eva happen IYO?
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
Yer it could do but i dont think he could ever reach the top again and be a champion. IMO he should just stay retired.
-
Re: I just watched Hamed v Barerra again lol
retired ,mouth closed (except for wen he's shoving in his food) ;D

Never mind what Naz SAYS, he was in poor form through out camp ;)
Naz gave a dismal account of himslef against MAB... even agsaint Kelly. He had so much more potential and for a while he showed it then lost it through sheer ignorance and arrogance.

MAB stopped Naz's attack because of the jab no one had ever used good jab against Naz and it was able to keep Naz off balance because Naz's balance was very poor in my eyes.
