Ali's Gold Medal found!!!???
The greatest ever, when he was refuse in a white only resturant. Ali heart broken from the racist world in his era, threw away his gold medal in a river. The medal he work hard for and won for his country, AMERICA.
Anybody knows anything of his gold medal ever being found or who found it in the past or recently ;)

This story became known after the publication of Ali's autobiography "The Greatest".
I suspect that it didn't really happen, and that maybe it was a bit of an allegory. Good story to put in a book and fits in with Ali's image with the Black Muslims at the time.
I reckon that in 50 years, one of Ali's descendents will miraculously get hold of it or something.
Quite a few of Ali's associates, who were close to him at the time, are quite closed-mouthed about this incident!

Yeah I thought I remembered reading somewhere where Ali admitted to not throwing it over the bridge, instead just falling out of love with it and misplacing it somewhere. But my memory might be playing tricks on me.
Either way, the medal turned into his most prized possession into something that became a symbol of something that wasn't right. And it's well known that black gold medal winners weren't treated well upon arrival back in the states. Even Jesse Owens was denied service at the airport diner the day he came back after stealing the show from Hitler at the Olympics.
But I'm pretty sure that the throwing over the bridge is a myth.

He never threw it away. There was a reporter doing a story on the young cassius clay and upon touring his house, he saw the original medal. He could tell this was the original because it was before a replacement ceremony. Ali used to pretend he trained underwater for media coverage when infact he did not. Therefor, without any photo graph proving iotherwise, i'm 100% sure he didn't throw his gold medal in the river but he DID throw something if an eyewitness said they saw him do it. The man was smart.

That you've read. I can find an article that disproves and proves EVERY point in the world on the internet. Ali said a lot of things. There's a guy that saw it and ali would've been smart enough to act like he threw it away so he still got the publicity and acknowledgement of his actions but at the same time maintained a medal that proved his own personal achievements.
