Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
Thats disapointing, I'm sure he'll be back in when he grabs one of the major belts this year and beats Paulie.

tbh mate I wouldn't have any one of them listed ahead of Mijares.

B-hop is alittle high for me.

Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
Ah damn these new rankings at first taste so sweet but then leave a nasty bitter aftertaste.
Of course Hatton shouldn't be in the top 10, no fighter from the light welter division should even be in the top 30 it's an absolute wasteland of a division.
If the light welterweight division were a geographic region it would be the Balkans, a primitive backwater, entirely uninteresting and completely irrelevent to the rest of the world.
So it's right and proper that Hatton is gone.
But to bring in Christian Mijares?:mad:
It's almost as if the Ring is trying to piss me off specifically. I can only assume that Oscar want's a piece of Mijares and so the courting process is underway. He already has Hatton and Haye, so he may as well get Mijares and have my 4 most loathed boxers all under one banner.
But seriously surely if you want to put a little guy there Ivan Calderon has done more.
The flyweight division is absolute shit, Mijares is the best in a mediocre division. It gets a lot of attention but honestly fighters like Arce and Darchinyan are poor men's Arturo Gatti's, Montiel is only ok, and Munoz was never that hot to begin with losing to Martin Castillo who has been done for years. They all suck and Mijares being the best is no means enough to warrant a place amongst the world's elite.
-
Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
I do disagree with one part of your post Bilbo, and that is the part about someone shouldn't be in the top 30 (I know this is an exagerration) if they are in a weak division. If Floyd had stayed at 140 for the last 2 years do you think he shouldn't be top 10??

HAHAHA
I think Mijares fully deserves his spot? Don't you? ;D

Damn right lefty. As simple as that.
I hope you don't honestly believe that if Hatton walks through Paulie he deserves to back in the top 10 P4P
Hatton will destroy Paulie even paulie cant punch for shit which will allow hatton to walk in face first and smash him up on the inside
In my opinion the only way Hatton can get back in to the top 10 would be to go back to WW, I feel sorry for him at the moment because there is no-one at LWW that can make him great.
If and its a big IF, Pac can make it up to 140 then that could be a great fight but Hatton loses either way. He wins then pac was too small and Hatton shouldn't have picked on the little guy.
If he loses he's shot and not worth shit
sorry if I have gone off topic
Hatton shouldn't be in the top 10 and I cant see him getting back in unfortunately

Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
Hopkins at 5 ?
He's lost 3 of his last 5 fights
-
Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
Has Hatton looked like one of the ten best fighters in the world lately? I don't think so.
Bilbo your hate for Mijares is getting out of control. ;D I'm not sure why I'm arguing with you about this, but the super flyweight division does not suck. Mijares and Montiel are both very good fighters. Munoz is a good fighter, and when he lost to Castillo that Castillo had not "been done for years." I'm not sure if you even saw it but the Castillo that beat Munoz the first time was in his prime and was a very good fighter. The Castillo of the second fight might have been slightly on the downside but he had shown no signs of that before and was not shot like he was in the Montiel fight. Arce and Vic are overrated (or at least were) but are still solid enough contenders. Well maybe not Arce, he's close to shot. Navarro's a solid fighter, guys like AJ Banal and Gorres are pretty good prospect/contenders.
You can make a case that its one of the better divisions actually, its certainly better than a lot of other ones.

Yeah I can agree with having Mijares above those guys, he has been staying very busy against live bodies and having great success in doing so, just because you don't follow the lower divisions doesn't mean they don't get credit.

You could have a point, maybe, but this place in Croatia is anything but uninteresting ;)

I don't think Hopkins should be in there anymore.

Actually my hate for him is pretty irrational really based on nothing more than irritation at the nuthuggers on here who talk about how slick and sublime he is. As I said before if he got caught dog fighting or battered an ex wife he'd probably win me over but I can't stand to see a fighter get nothing but praise.
I don't dislike anything about Mijares on a personal level though.
It's just Hatton and Haye who grate my shit in that regard.
My contempt for Hatton even now extends to his family members and I rejoiced when his talentless brother lost against Craig Watson at the weekend.
But even Hatton doesn't fuel my anger as much as David Haye. It's almost sadistic how much I want him to suffer in his first fight at heavyweight. :foruml10gc5:
-
Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
I thought he started a bit slow against Munoz so maybe I didn't think it was quite the masterclass that some did.
He is pretty slick though. ;) Maybe he's got some sort of felony in his background, you never know.
-
Re: New Ring P4P Ranking: Hatton Out, Mijares In
I don't think Mijares should be ahead of Rafael Marquez but completely agree with him being on the list and Hatton being out

Brilliant :appl:
Mijares is rated higher then Rafa because he's the unified champ and the quality of his opposition in his last fights has been World Class level. Not to mention how he dominated Munoz in his last fight and he hasn't lost since 2002.
For those of you who are criticizing Mijares watch his fights and by that I mean more then just the Arce & Munoz fights. ;)

You know noone's gonna watch man, it's easier to just say he doesn't deserve it. The level and manner of Cristian's wins are going to go by the wayside of the casual fans, just because there isn't much publicity for the weight division as a whole.

About as many times as youve seen a game of football being played

That's like making fun of you for putting something in the "boot" of your car. Or taking the "lift" to your "flat". It's just different speech.

2 and they were horrible
think 24 rounds of boxing (a good hour and a quarter) is long enough to come up with a brief assessment of a fighters credentials.
Mijares to my knowledge has never been shown on british tv and having lived in the uk all my life i think its fair to say i can be cut some slack on said boxer.
Now as i answered your question in good spirit.......
explain to me the offside rule, leaving no detail unturned...

What does that got to do with it? A real boxing fan finds ways to watch fights. But than your not a boxing fan. Your just a Hatton groupie. That's the difference.

Rafa should be in #9 spot, and Mijares in #10.
The majority of people that I talked to thought it was a dominant performance.
Deanrw, youngblood, Spicoli and myself.
I think Galaxy also thought it was all Mijares.
That aside because it's subjective and I can see how you think that it was not a dominant performance.
I want to correct you...
Correction: Mijares DID hurt Munoz. He hurt him 3 times in the fight twice with a looping left hook and once with straight right.
One judge had it 115-113 for Munoz unless you agree with that you and I and everyone whos seen the fight know that there is NO possible way Munoz won that fight. Never the less by 2 points and let's keep in mind he had 1 point deducted.
Izzy convinced me that he beat Rafa, he convinced me in the rematch that he could beat him no matter how many times they fought. Rafas one of my fav. and if you see the predictions on fight #3 I said I was rooting for Rafa but knew Izzy would win. (Several people here even PM me on how I could predict a Rafa win in the prediction competition but yet still know that Izzy would win)

Again, simple question.
How many Mijares fights have you seen?
2 and they were horrible
think 24 rounds of boxing (a good hour and a quarter) is long enough to come up with a brief assessment of a fighters credentials.
Mijares to my knowledge has never been shown on british tv and having lived in the uk all my life i think its fair to say i can be cut some slack on said boxer.
Now as i answered your question in good spirit.......
explain to me the offside rule, leaving no detail unturned...
To my knowledge Edwin Valeros NEVER been on American TV but I've seen and have all of his fights.
So what's the problem?
The point here is your talking about a fighter whom you've only seen 2 fights of and trying to discredit him.
Now guess what if you would have seen more of his fights and you still feel that way then OK. It's your opinion and that's fine. But how can you comment on a fighter who you virtually know nothing of and what you do know is from 2 fights. I mean seriously...
And so you know we can talk soccer all you want in the hidden boards not here since this is the boxing talk forum. ;)

For those of you who are criticizing Mijares watch his fights and by that I mean more then just the Arce & Munoz fights. ;)
Correction:
I saw the fight too. It wasn't exactly a "domination" by Mijares at all. Mijares couldn't really hurt Munoz and the fight ended up via SD.
Vazquez didn't really defeat Rafa convincingly.
Rafa should be in #9 spot, and Mijares in #10.
The majority of people thought it was a dominant performance.
Deanrw, youngblood, Spicoli and myself.
I think Galaxy also thought it was all Mijares.
That aside because it's subjective and I can see how you think it was a dominant performance.
We have different opinions obviously. Domination for me is a one-sided beating, which I didn't see that at all.
A draw would've been more appropriate in Rafa-Izzy 3. Ref Pat Russel even acknowledged his mistake with the low blow.

That's what I said, dominance can be subjective.
But there is NO doubt in my mind that he beat Munoz and he hurt Munoz in the fight.
The key factor in Izzy-Rafa is the left hook. So as long as Izzy throws it and lands Rafa can't take that shot. I think those 2 can fight 5 more times and Izzy would win 5 times. (Keep in mind I'm a Rafa fan)

I just sent you "hattonhammer" Neg. Rep. for insulting me with your boxing knowledge...
I disapprove
Message: Completely disagree with your assesment on Mijares a fighter who you clearly know nothing of...
