Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
I know everyone would go for Tyson (me to) Just wondering how long people think he would last & also against a post prison tyson as well.
Personally I cant really imagine how it would play out! Hence i asked! :D

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Bit of a stupid thread really isn't it mate?
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
not really fantasy match ups are on the board all the time!
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
All Haye is good at is skirting the ring in that stupid stance, then casually stopping to maybe throw a right. He doesnt have the skill, strength or resiliance to get out the first.
Post prison, maybe he has a chance with the skirting but Mikes hands were still quick and Haye has never been hard to hit.
In fact, had it been Haye instead of Danny Williams, I think Mike wins in the first.;)
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Haye is the hardest hitting HW in the history of boxing, he'd baffle Tyson with his dazzling speed, toy with him just for his own entertainment for a few rounds, and then brutally knock him out, effectively ending Iron Mike's career. :shocking:
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
I think that the result of this match up is kind of pretty obvious and that the fight wouldn't go further than 2 rounds. 3 if Mike did party up all night prior to the fight.
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Pre-prison prime Tyson........hmmm, I hated him frm 1986-1996, but in hindsight, I gotta ad-fucking-mit, NOT 1 COCKSUCKER COULD BEAT HIM IN HISPRIME, HE EVEN KO'D DOUGLAS IN THE 8TH ROUND.
Post-prison, he could still lick Haye, but it would take atleast 7 rounds.
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Haye wouldn't even have won the pre fight battle cause one glare from Mike and David would have shit his pants, Tyson by TKO1 ala Bruce Seldon, then we'd hear Haye pull a Mike Tyson and say "I broke my back" after the fight

:vd: ....Ali, Foreman, Louis, Lewis, Holyfield, and probably a few more people would beat a prime Tyson.
....As for this match up certainly Tyson would be beaten in about 5 and that's IF the WBA title holder chooses to carry him ;D
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Haye would have to be led to the ring blindfolded and wearing a diaper or else he'd faint and soil himself and the ring.
The fight itself? Last about half a round.
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
remember haye is current and tyson is a legend, a fighter who i bet if you asked the majority of people for 5 fighters they would bring back in their prime tyson would figure highly
Haye is also in general disliked and tyson (now at least) is looked back on with very fond memories
all these things would play a part in peoples opinions
my opinion is that tyson at his best (sometime around when he was winning the belts and his first few defences) was awesome, as good as any hw at any time and i am sure that tyson would beat haye at his best
any other tyson it would be a much closer fight and there a few points in tysons carear where haye would have won the fight

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Well. Tyson gets out of prison for Rape and goes right back in for manslaughter. Or a scenario where he becomes a repeat offender on first charge is not totally out of the question either:-X

LOL! There is really something wrong with that ;)

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Tyson wins an early KO. The 2 men who beat a prime Tyson, Douglas and Holyfield, both took some good shots off Mike due to his very good speed. I'm not sure Haye could take 1 good shot from Tyson and you have to say he would land on Haye because of the handspeed he had. Tyson isn't the iron chinned fighting machine some make him out to be but he certainly had a better chin than Haye and though Haye certainly has the power and speed to KO Tyson I just don't see it personally.
As much as I have to say Tyson wasn't as great as his reputation, he destroys the whole HW division today. He wasn't slow, robotic or chinny as hell, so he already has at least one thing on all 3 belt holders today.

Wrong. :hypnodisk::hypnodisk:
Furthermore in your zeal to disparage Tyson you have included people who fought in previous eras to Tyson like Louis and Ali. I was talking about concurrent fighters with Tyson. No way any of them you mention could beat the Tyson who beat Spinks. No way. He was untouchable at that time.

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Tyson would kick his rear end into touch inside of a round, he would dispose of Wlad in two. Vitali would last longer, but you can't fight Tyson with your hands down so much.

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Prime Tyson who fought Mike Spinks smokes just about everybody in ANY era, by the way, except 1973 George Foreman who I think smokes everybody period.

....How would Mike reach Vitali's chin when Lennox Lewis had a difficult enough time doing that?
Brock, you've contradicted yourself "nobody beats Prime Tyson" and "1973 Foreman beats Tyson".....#1 "Prime Tyson" wasn't unbeatable or untouchable (Smith and Bruno rocked him) #2 Joe Louis is the Greatest Heavyweight of ALL Time and he would have crushed Tyson! Ali would have toyed with Iron Mike and any version of Big George would have whipped him. As for Lewis and Holyfield....they beat Mike in real life, I don't see why they wouldn't have been able to beat him in his prime.
Michael Spinks was a damn light heavyweight man!!!

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
I said only a George Foreman beats 1988 Tyson.
Lewis does NOT beat 1988 Tyson, nor does Holyfield.
Brown Bomber, hmmm, gotta think about that, I think 1988 Tyson was quicker and more difficult to hit than Joe. I'd go with 1988 Tyson over Joe Louis.

Fine....you just keep on believing that

re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Tyson does a Michael Spinks but only faster.
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
From what we have seen from Haye so far I think he would get blasted out early.
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Tyson is all wrong for Haye.
To stand a good chance against tyson, a good chin is a necessity.
Or at least height and a high enough work rate
Maybe Wlad would have the height, jab, and elusiveness to keep Tyson away at a safe distance. As long as Tyson doesnt land big it would work out.
But Haye would not be able to keep Tyson away with his style. Tyson would swarm until he landed some big shots, and that would likely be it. Probably inside 3 rounds.

I totally agree with you here Lyle. Tyson had an invincible aura around him because he battered bums. His very best win came vs an ancient Larry Holmes who couldn't get his shots off and the only other 2 HW legends he fought kicked his ass. I'm sick of hearing he was past his best by the time he fought Holyfield. Well MAYBE but upto that point after his release from prison he was doing exactly what he was in his PRIME and that was battering bums. Hell he even beat Bruno in better fashion than he did in this so called unbeatable PRIME of his. Another thing that Tyson fans forget is going into the fight Evander was completely washed up, so imagine what a prime Evander would have done to him.

This man gets it. I mean when you ko guys like Michael Jack Johnson, Sammy Scaff, blownup light heavies like Spinks and old man Holmes, you create an aura of invincibility. But against atg Heavies like Lewis and Evander, he got his ass handed to him. What's funny is that they say Tyson was past his best, but so were Evander and Lewis when Tyson fought them.

Mike put no effort in to trying to regain the skills that made him great in the first place and although Holyfield and Lewis may have been past their best they still cared enough about their career and legacy to hire decent trainers, stay in long camps and train seriously. Mike did none of these things.
It took Lewis 8 rounds to take out a man who wasnt fighting back and taking every right hand he threw. Had that Tyson still moved his head and feet Lewis wouldnt have been so keen to throw anything. Mike was only taking fights for money and only getting them because of his name value. How did he earn the Lewis shot???
In Mikes previous fight against Golota he actually said he was retiring because hed had enough. He was supposed to fight David Izon and Ray Mercer as warm ups. The Izon fght fell through and Lewis blocked the Mercer fight. Mike wasnt even active at the point he fought Lewis.

naa completely wrong mate, you can pick holes in everyones records, if you take that approach every fighter in boxing history was over rated or shit or just beat up on bums
Tyson was awesome, a phenomonom and i hope one day we get another tyson
Tyson was way past his best when he fought lewis, he was still a force when he fought hollyfield but not a patch on the fighter he had been 10 years (or whatever) before

He was a phenom but nowhere close to the best of the best of the other eras (Ali, Foreman etc). He did well because the era he fought in wasn't that filled at the time with great and dangerous boxers, mostly sand bags and great one on the utter decline. He was intimidating, very powerful, sure, but it has been quite documented that oen who can last 5-6 rounds with Mike had all the chances to win. Douglas did bust the aura, Tyson has never been the same after, as much in his head than in the other's eyes who now saw that they could beat him.
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
Whilst I agree Tyson’s aura of invincibility was gone after the Douglas defeat, Tyson still managed to beat many good opponents afterwards particularly the dangerous Rudduck twice. Very few fighters wanted to face Razor including Holyfield and Big George (who never would have fought him).
-
re: Predictions for if Haye had fought a Prime Tyson
OMG if Ruiz can tap Haye on the chin and send him flying, Tyson would of knocked him clean out of the arena!

Ross you know as well as I that does not mean that George Foreman was not a great heavyweight fighter even if he did not become a great champion. Losing to Ali, the greatest ever is not a bad way to lose a title. Conversely some champions have had more defences than Tyson but do not make them greater than Mike including Wlad.

What decent wins did Foreman have after Ali?
In Tysons case, its always "he had such a short successfull period and when he came up against someone who wasnt intimidated the bully got bullied"
Well, Mike had a far more successfull career than either of Foremans. ;)
-
He beat Frazier again, he beat Ron Lyle, he beat Gerry Cooney, Michael Moorer....he rocked the shit out of Evander Holyfield which is more than Tyson can say and George was over 40 years old!!!

Neither Cooney or Moorer would have got out of the first round with Mike;)
As for Ron Lyle, he was a journeyman who bounced Foreman off the canvas. He may well have rocked Holyfield, who didnt before he started taking steroids?
Again, his best win after Ali to prove his greatness? Oh yes, you said Moorer.
Much like Spinks, a blown up light heavy but where as Spinks held the linear title by beating Holmes, Foreman wan the WBO............
-
Foreman > Tyson......FACT
Foreman demolished an all time great in his prime in Joe Frazier...did Tyson ever beat an all time great in his prime? No he beat a faded Larry Holmes and then went on to refuse to fight Foreman in the 1990's.
