James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
This is an afternoon show in the states which means primetime for the UK. (high five)
Bookies can't split them (10/11 the pair). Both quick and slick southpaw/switchers with Dirrell looking a little quicker/sharper and DeGale having more tricks up his sleeve.
Big Al paid $3m for this. Home advantage could play a massive factor - if the fight was in England i'd quite strongly fancy chunky. They both have decent power but it's likely to go the distance. Being the away fighter DeGale will have to force it. There's a chance Dirrell bottles it.
Jimmy Mac was Danny Williams trainer when he bashed up Tyson. (just a bit of useless info to end with)

Degale on points for me. Hope that muppit Groves wins the WBC title and they unify and Degale shuts his mouth. I never use to like Degale, but hes grown on me with his performances in the ring and not being a dick out of the ring.

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
If DeGale and Groves both win and they unify the silly titles it will be massive.
I'd pick DeGale to wipe the floor with him this time (might think different if he gets wiped the floor with saturday though)

Groves also has to go to the States for his shot at Jack. If they both win you can see them having a defence or two and building up to a next summer showdown at Wembley.

I disagree. I think Groves is walking a tight rope at the moment because of his chin and having the wrong trainer in his corner. He's also lacking any big wins on his resume. I'd suggest that if Eddie can convince Sky to put the money up, this will be box office and Groves 1st defence, Degale's 2nd maybe, providing they both win.

A wembley date would have to be in the summer though wouldnt it? Doubt they would have a outdoor event in the winter and both men would get in defences waiting for a summer showdown.

Runs away with it. You know what I mean.
Degale not cut off ring. Do not win.

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
If Degale wins then it is really up there with Honeyghan beating Curry, not higher but up there.
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
It's a really good match up, looking forward to it. Think DeGale is beast and dangerous for anyone at 168, but not sure how he deals with Dirrell.
I have this impression that when 2 southpaws square off, it's usually the faster/cagier/guy who fights better goingbackwards that wins. Dirrell is a bit of a question mark mentally, but he's very hard to get to and has a punch himself.
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Having seen Degale lately and seeing how protected Andre has been lately, I've gotta think James is gunna go and win it. Degale has looked like a guy that isn't messing about anymore, so I think he'll go and do a job.
-
He has a chance to make British Sporting history so good luck to him. Even if he does look a bit like Red Rum.
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
DeGale has came on massively over the past few years, he wasted too much time on Channel 5 which held him back quite a bit if you ask me, I'd like to see him do it, I never used to have much time at all for him but I've changed my opinion on him now.

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Dirrell and I dont think its going to be all that competitive. Degales promoter probably low balled the purse bid on purpose. I think he's going to have that same deer in the headlights look that Clinton Woods had when he fought Tarver. I dont think Degale has the melon for it and he brings nothing to the table that is better then Dirrell.
The similarities are uncanny though.
Degale is 6' 1 and Dirrell is 6' 1
Degale has a 75" reach and Dirrell has a 75" reach
Degale is 29 and Dirrell is 31
Degale is a southpaw and Dirrell is a southpaw
Degale can switch hit and Dirrell can switch hit
Degale has 20 wins 14 ko's with 1 close loss and Dirrell has 24 wins with 16 ko's and 1 close loss.
Degale seems weak in the head with a lack of focus in adversity and Dirrell seems weak in the head under adversity
Degale thought he was next coming and Dirrell thought he was the next coming
Speaking of which, Andre changed his alias to " The Resurrected"....I guess SOG was already taken

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Dirrell is one of my least liked fighters
But unless it is totally one sided he will get a decision and I don't think it will be totally one sided, I think it will be close enough to give it to dirrell and it doesn't even have to be that close
Degale to get bummed
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Andre Dirrell is a broken fighter. They may have dusted him off and cleaned him up but after that AA fight he's never looked the same. I think he's only fighting because it's whats expected of him and what he feels he's good at. He's probably be happier doing anything else.
DeGale should win this.

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Beating Dirrell is not "up there" with the Ragamuffin Man whooping Curry. Lets keep it real.
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Bit harsh to say DeGale is mentally weak. No evidence of that, unless being a bit of a thicko counts.

What time are we expecting it to start?
It was supposed to be starting on sky at 8pm but the football has gone to penalties so its not on yet.
I fucking hate sky
**edit just spotted the 9.30 start in Masters post directly above mine

I have been up since 3:45am covering a charity bike ride so hopefully I can stay awake for the first British Olympic Gold medalist to win a world title. O 'Sullivan is all action right now
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.

-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Sullivan v Macklin would be good.
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
Spike can be in a lot of good fights. I dont think hes world class but fights against GGG and Cotto would be fun watches so why not?

Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
What's the odds that David Brent can answer a single question without talking about himself?
-
Re: James DeGale-Andre Dirrell --- SKY/NBC. Fact.
James looks real confident. From the weigh in to the entrance to the arena.
