Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Anthony Joshua-Dillian Whyte Deal Set, Says BBBoC - Boxing News
I've heard it could be November. So it's finally happening then, does Whyte have a chance? Glad this fight is happening because Joshua is going to actually fight somebody who can give it back to him. That's when we will see if Joshua is actually any good, he's looked amazing agaianst shit opposition and so did David Price. But until he's put under pressure we don't know how good he will be. I'm not saying he won't be or can't , I'm just saying he's still unproven.

Phave you been taken in by the hype as well?;D
Of course he has a chance! Who has Joshua beaten yet?
Whyte is the only person we have seen drop Joshua ( although Price has sparked him in sparring) so at least has a chance!! Hes also unbeaten and actuall wants to win...

Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Whyte bottled the Sep 12th date - apparently needs more time. If this fight is a cert for later in the year, AJ wont be fighting the likes of Wach or Thompson on that date
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Not a good fight for me. Whyte is really average and wouldnt be sure hed beat Johnson. Joshua in 1 or 2. People are buying into that amateur fight far too much. It means nothing. Joshua was a complete novice and wasnt anywhere near the conditioned beast he is now. I would have preferred Wach but I guess this will sell more.

Joshua was a novice?
It was Whytes first fight!;D Hahaha!
Whyte has more pro experience now with sparring world class heavies and actual bouts so yeah they arent the same fighters!
Unless you are trying to include Joshuas amateur experience where most people agree he lost at least the Savon bout and should not have progressed beyond that.
Whyte didnt accept the September date because hes only come back from a 2 year absence last November and then only had 3 months before he broke his hand which has been in a cast!;D some people...;)
He wants a warm up amd then he's facing Joshua this year.

No I've not lol, did you not read what I put after?

Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Yeah lets not buy the AJ hype. Who the fuck has he fought? Whyte has been learning his trade the right way, beating fat belly Latvian punch bags... oh and of course he has the invaluable experience of once being in the presence of the Fury's.
Hearn gave Whyte the warm up he wanted - stuck him on the Hull bill.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Great fight, I'm really looking forward to this one. I hear Whyte may fight on September 12th against another opponent to sell it a little more.
If Lucas Browne vacates his Commonwealth, I've heard Joshua might be fighting Gary Cornish on September 12th.

Lucky if this goes a round.
Who has Joshua beaten? Who has whyte beaten?
Joshua smashed Johnson, the guy who Fury took a snoozefest UD against? Now Fury has a title shot, that has to show how dangerous he is.
I agree that Johnson isnt a world challenger now but he'll walk through whyte easy.

Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
I like Whyte and until Ross wrote about his injury I was wondering why he was not so active.
I would love him to de-rail AJ. That would be funny seeing Hearn and Sky's face.

Lets not forget the 2 years PEDs ban.

Whyte is a breath of fresh air. He had 5 fights in 3 months after his 2 year ban. He wants to be active but broke his hand in his last fight in February. He has only just been able to start using the hand in training again and with such an important fight for him its fair he should want a warm up after another enforced absence.

This fight is similar to when Riddick Bowe fought Jorge Luis Gonzalez. Gonzalez was a cuban who beat Bowe as an amateur and a big thing was made about that fact. So much so, that many thought Gonzalez would win, but after six very one sided rounds, that was made to seem crazy.
I see a similar outcome with this. If Whyte thinks he's fighting the same fighter he fought in 08, I see another quick win for AJ.

Tell me you did not enjoy Khan getting knocked out in the first round. That was priceless or £14.99 if you paid.

It was worth £34.99 to watch Khan get starched.

Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Whyte is supposed to be fighting on the Joshua v Cornish undercard but Hearn still hasnt got him an opponent yet. I think its only 3 weeks away!
I reckon he will get the weakest shittiest opponent he can so Whyte gets no rounds in.
Meanwhile Whyte is in America with Banks training. Be a shame to not see the results against anyone good.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
This is a terrific matchup , I will be on the edge of my seat when the bombs start flying , it will tell us more about both fighters.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Hearn still has no opponent for Whyte.

Hearn is going to regret signing to fight Whyte.
It reminds me a little bit of DeGale v Groves.
Groves had an amateur win, DeGale was the olympic medalist and no one really gave Groves a chance.

Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Joke he hasn't got an opponent confirmed at this stage but they're hardly gonna give hin a decent test when the AJ fight is already signed. Matchroom/SKY wan't him to look good scoring an easy KO, not plodding through 10 rounds with a punch bag.

Jason Gavern was piping up for a bit as an opponent but Whyte was basically telling him to piss off on twitter.
Whyte wanted Teper.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Teper is ridiculous. As if they would stick him in with the European champion when the AJ fight is already done. Jason Gavern seems perfect - he'd take him as many rounds as he wants before quitting.

Gavern would get wiped out.
Whyte wants and needs a test.or at least rounds.
Hearn has been fucking Whyte around for what end im not sure. I cant see its to unsettle him as he is investing in the Joshua matchup. The inly realistic reason I can think of is that Hearn doesnt want Whyte getting rounds.p and getting sharp.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
There's no reason for Hearn to mess him about. If Hearn was in the slightest bit worried that Whyte would upset AJ he wouldn't have even signed him. If AJ didn't want this fight it wouldn't even be happening.
You just said Whyte has been rejecting opponents and wanted to fight for the european title? That doesn't sound like someone getting messed about.

Soooo..you're not a nice guy after all! Surprising!! 😮

Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
In the last 9 months Whyte has had 6 fights and 15 rounds.
In the last 9 months AJ has had 4 fights and 8 rounds.
He's had more action than AJ.

I believe this will show in the fight.
I also know that Whyte wanted to get some rounds in necause hes been out about 6 or 7 months with a broken hand. He wants to face better opposition to be as ready as he can be. Hes away in Detroit at the Kronk training under Banks at the moment so is trying to help himself the best way he can but obviously Hearn doesnt wsnt him sharp.

That's good matchmaking.
Whyte gets a guy that has never been stopped to give him the rounds he demanded but should he stop him it will look impressive as Guinn has never been stopped.
Expect Guinn to quit around the 6th when everyone is getting bored to death. Perfect.

I will ne surprised if Whyte does stop him. He fought this year and was lighter than when he faced Adamek a couple of years ago so should be in relatively good shape. He also does throw punches back and isnt a negative fighter.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Just read the Guinn fight is off over money.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
His new opponent is Brian Minto. I listened to a podcast where Whyte said he phoned up Guinn to ask why he pulled out and he said he wasn't fit, he'd have to quit after two rounds so it would be a waste of time.

If you read through Whytes twitter, Minto was offered this fight already and turned it down because the money wasnt worth the risk. He actually told Whyte this on twitter after Whyte asked him why he wouldnt accept. Hearn must have had to dig a bit deeper;D
Not a bad match really as Minto always makes people work for however long he lasts but still no where near ideal as a warm up opponent for a big man like Joshua.
-
Re: Joshua - Whyte set, date TBC.
Is it an even better match than Guinn? I ask that because I could see Minto beating this Guinn fairly comfortably now.
