Just that
A sad loss; one of those people that was icon, and that is not cliche. Something had been wrong for a while, but still 57 is too young now a days.
That is shocking!!!
Loved Doves Cry.
Wow.
RIP. This year there have been too many legends dying.
This ones a shock. :(
This truly sucks. What an artist. Incredible musician/ song writer. Man could that Kat play guitar. Left handed like Hendrix. Big part of my party years.
It's just one after another of Celebrities dying since Bowie in January.... Crazy :-\
Love Prince, always a mystical dude who no one really knew too much about but made tune after tune after tune, he was red hot on/against youtube too which is why loads of his tunes can't be found on it.
When i was djing full time around 15 years ago i never left home without a breakbeat remix of When Doves Cry that i got on white label which was one of the coolest tunes i ever bought - nobody else had it as there was only about 50 copies on the planet - used to have people come and ask me to drop that tune every time i played in a club
Legend and a Massive part of being a kid growing up in London for me.
Present for all the Prince fans

Prince: The Glory Years | Documentary Heaven
I don't know about his music, but what a horrible year for musicians. Really famous and influential musicians. Not much you can say really. 57 and almost out the blue.
Never bought any of his stuff but I was always impressed with his musical ability and writing. At least he left something that will be remembered, I'll merely leave a rotting corpse.
Never really listened to Prince honestly but have always been 'surrounded' by friends that loved his stuff. Clearly inspired artists across the board and from so many different styles. We're not even halfway into this 2016 and it feels like it is working overtime at taking the one's we watched from youth.
In order to play with an R & B band in the 1980s you had to know some Prince and Morris Day and the Time.
Soft N wet was a song that literally moved me to music. ..before I knew the artist's name.
Bought every album up till...oh Sign O The Time.
In short, I'm hurting. Over someone. I never met
Seen him live. Gave me confidence to play guitar.
Man, Im hurting.
It's just shocking really. Really similar to Bowie in that it was so unexpected. With Prince it seems so sudden and by the sounds of it he was a really fit person. It seems so unusual that you can have flu symptoms and then collapse dead like that. I totally get what you are going through, Slim. You don't know the artist, but you feel that kinship through the work and what it has meant through your life.
It has become ghoulish to me now. Every day someone dies. I see people like Paul McCartney and Iggy Pop and they are so old and you don't want them to go anywhere, but you are going to hear one day that time has been called. Isn't that so depressing? I guess it is natural and normal and part of the circle of life, but you spend your young years invincible never thinking about it, but it starts to permeate your every thought as your heroes all start to vanish.
It could be exhaustion he just worked and worked. He did everything producer, performer, director, writer - a true artist.
made the odd decent song
more of a pop artist really
I have just been listening to him talking about chem trails. Prince seems to have been really smart too.
Andy Warhol was a pop artist
Brian Wilson is a pop artist
He is in good company
Oh dear. There are reports that the recent flu might have been a drug overdose and not the flu. He might have been on heroin or something of that nature. A real shame if true.
Prince dies at 57: Star was 'treated for drug overdose' days before death
He was found in a lift in his home. Imagine living in a gaff with a lift. Impressive.
To be fair he was tiny so it was probably a little tykes lift. Impressive still but not THAT impressive.
Ali will go this year too. I mean he dies every year but this year will be the real thing.
Maybe heroin was the wrong call, rumours of painkiller addiction now. Same thing, but it makes it less shocking to housewives.
Amyl nitrates??
That's a Suede song
I've read a few reports that Prince was seen a few days ago looking "Nervous and on edge" in a Pharmaceutical store buying loads of pills and I've also read this a few times...........
The Autopsy will reveal all but the story goes he received a "Shot" in hospital which is what they give people who overdose on Opiates (Heroin) - Same as in Pulp Fiction

Jimmy, Elvis , Michael, Prince I dont think they took drugs to make music, rather to escape the life they made for themselves.
Probably started for recreation or physical pain...then it became a necessity.
On a side and seriously not trying to sound a cunt, but we've almost become too good at instant public mourning. To set up multiple media sets...100 idiots in the background taking selfies...in front of his estate and make it an event. I know it's where we're at these days but FFS. You want to honor the man put on a best of, pour a glass and reflect. Have some respect.
If the man needed painkillers then the man needed painkillers, each and every persons own call to make. It's not as though he was being a burden on anyone with any of that. Wouldn't it be great to be a chemist? I heard that the average lifespan of a doctor is about 56. It makes sense.
Prince was the single greatest artist, producer, musician, performer and entertainer from the 1980's on.
His level of skill, passion, creativity, output, and influence are unmatched by any of his contemporaries.
You can say you didn't listen to him much, but if you've listened to pop, funk, r&b, rock, edm and any of their sub genres, then you've heard a lot of Prince's sound.
Rest in Peace
rock - jazz - soul - funk - r&b - disco - pop - ballads - electronic
Loved the fast paced Funk tracks like Controversy,Sexuality, etc.
