Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
From when it was made I strongly fancied Makabu to chin Bellew.
However, I can see Bellew doing well. If he can make it "boring," keeps Makabu on the end of his jab and takes it deep he has a chance. Problem is Bellew is slow and the last time he fought a big punching quick handed southpaw he was splattered. If Makabu gets inside it's goodnight vienna.
Makabu KO - 6/5
The undercard features every fighter in Liverpool
Callum Smith
David Price
Stephen Smith
etc

I fancy Bellew here. Keep him at distance and its an easy nights work for him.
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
I'm probably going to be getting drunk during this card, with no work on Monday, so looking forward to an interesting night.
Personally, I reckon Bellew has the adaptability to change his style, and will do so here to nullify Makabu for the most of the fight. That should be enough for Bellew to grab the win.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Makabu will knock out Bellew
Surprised this is not box office.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Got my ticket with 10 of my lads, fingers crossed Bellew gets chined!!

Why is this on Sunday? Bank holiday Monday coming up?

I know you can't stand him , nor do I , but I wouldn't put 10 fucking pence in his pocket by going to watch him, even if I wanted him to lose! I suppose there's a few other guys from your neck of the woods on the bill that you like though. Have a good night and fingers crossed for the right result! 😉

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
I used to think he was okay Bellew but he is hard to like, things change I can't stand him I shall being
watching tonight, boxing on a Saturday and Sunday night what ever next.;D

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Bellew doesn't wind me up like it seems he does everyone else. He thinks he's better than what he is but oh well.
I'd like him to win even though i've backed him to be sparked out.

Yes in a nutshell big mouth bark like a pitbull bite like a goldfish.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
If bellew wins Britain has another world champ and if makabu wins then atleast we get to see bellew beaten up. Either way it's win win
At first glance makabu appears to be abit small and unless you know his record you'd expect he's been brought in as the opponent but having a look at him on YouTube he has a touch of class and a nasty streak which I think will be too much for bellew

Out of tonight's fights I think I am most interested in David Price's, he needs to make a massive statement to come away with any credibility at all.
He must know that this is the last chance saloon for his career.
I don't know who he is fighting but I'm guessing it's an absolute bum
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
David Price weighed in at 273 pounds for this fight apparently, seems like a desperate move to try and change something. I'm sure his opponent is complete rubbish, but how is that extra weight going to help him?

The guy who beat him last time has failed a drugs test though, might give him a little more credibility.
The card does have the look of a parade of local favourites until you get up towards the last two or three fights. Still, nothing better to do with the day off tomorrow!

If you watch his last fight, it's hard to come to that conclusion imo. Teper didn't even look like he was in shape and barely had to expend any energy. A cheats a cheat, but Price looked like he would have been sparked out by anyone decent that night.
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
I'm not trying to defend Price's performance there, he looked terrible, but just pointing out the drugs cheat issue. Unless he sorts out that glass jaw, he won't be going anywhere in terms of international level boxing, but might still trouble British title scene.
-
Drugs aside in his last fight Prices jab was the worst most laziest looking jab I've seen in the last few years he just looked shot.
At one point I thought he could go all the way but that first defeat just completely derailed him, I'm outside on the piss at the minute so I'm just hoping I can drag myself away to watch the while card, I've got a feeling I'll be watching it back tomorrow
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Price up first. Imagine a clump off him weighing 19 stone... i'll give that a swerve
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Price KO 2. Fair play to the fella for having a go. Price will never lose the fear of being hit
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Price looks like the same guy, pulls and leans straight back and is there to be hit, we know he can't take it so I'm not sure there is much hope for him.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Farnell (trainer) with the BoxNation shirt on in Yates corner :D
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Didn't spot the Boxnation T-Shirt!
Good little scrap between Yates and Farrell....I must admit that Carl Froch's pronunciation annoyed me plenty during the fight. Farrell is English, not an American music producer. Farrell did mark up a lot, but he looked tidy in terms of his punches, just needs some defensive work.
Price got the win, two heavy uppercuts, but the same for him, when that Czech lad came forward at the start of the second, Price still didn't look to be particularly good.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Callum Smith is just a little bit taller than his opponent. Odds on first round job
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Left hook knocked this nutter of his feet. He got up

Fair play to the little fella, he deserved to see the bell, but this is a complete mismatch. Callum looks to be several divisions larger than this guy. He's game though. Don't see it going past 4.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
What an hard cunt. Not having none of it that he's here to lose
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Smith will learn from this fight.
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
This loon got up again. I love these nutters
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Reynoso is actually really tough, and considering his size you might like his chances if he was matched against someone his own size.

There was a massive size disparity.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
There was nothing wrong with Smith's performance there as that dope Halling started waffling about, it was just that "little" fella was hard as nails

Well, he did look like he had a bit of a leaky defence, but offensively, he did everything he needed to, but as you say the opponent was a very tough little fella.
Nice to see that 'old school' boxing nicknames such as 'Masher' are still found in some parts of the country, although Dodd might be a bit outmatched with this Italian guy. I probably have Di Silvio a few up.
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
This is getting interesting now.
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
This is a home fighters win. Not saying Masher isn't the winner but the Italian would get it at home
-
Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
He has improved as the fight has gone on, but I don't see the one-sided bout that Jim Watt and Nick Halling seem to be talking about. Dodd is finishing the stronger, but I only have Dodd a few rounds up.

Yeah he got caught but he entered the ring with a zero danger mentality. He was meant to give that fella a couple of good clumps and thats all she wrote.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
As this is Liverpool, fashion appears to have taken a side step of this particular area...just had to rewind and look at the guy in a full on Burberry pattern shirt. It was horrible.

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
Briz isn;t gonna last but these nutters make for good fights

Re: Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu - Sunday/Sky 6pm.
This Smith brother is not as good as callum.
