The Russians see us as weak. They don't really care if we go to the World Cup or not, and it's a pretty pathetic retaliation.
They don't have a big embassy here or many diplomats, as they don't see the UK as important.
We already have sanctions against them, so we can't do that anyway.
The State can't simply boot individuals out and take their property. London is the biggest investment city on earth and it has the most foreign billionaires here. If we suddenly decided the rule of law didn't apply to them, they would take their money elsewhere. I wouldn't be happy knowing that the governement feel they can just take people's stuff.
In any case, having all those Russian billionaires here spending all the money thay have stolen from Russians really annoys Putin, so we should encourage them
The truth is that there is fuck all we can do to hurt Russia, and they know it.
So we allow them to put members of the public at risk because they feel like killing a spy?
We have no chance of winning the world cup so lets not go and pretend we are punishing them. :)
The only thing you can do is kill a defector or spy in Russia with a British nerve agent.

More seriously, I don't know what you can do. Like other powerful countries Russia does what it wants as does the UK by locking up Assange for millions a year. UK has done a lot of dodgy stuff over recent decades. Kind of hypocritical to get upset with Russia considering the way the UK behaves internationally.
We should send the prime minister to the Russian embassy, knock on the door and ask
"is Len in?"

She told me that they see the UK and Europe as weak and are taught as much in School.

Our nuke treaty's have been relatively successful, the world needs some cyber war treaties as it can be far to disruptive on citizens.

That is true, even with these hacks (not to minimize the London attacks) I think it was Wikileaks that released documents stating the US developed hacks that could have the finger print of another country.
