My wife had CNN on yesterday and I just started laughing. I had been saying it for years, but all proven now.

Re: Faith in the US media
Always be skeptical of mass media outlets who pander to selected political and social leanings. All of them. Todays 'media' is not out Grandfathers media. Skeptical to mean cross reference your sources, read and do research on what you disagree with and never eeeeeever buy into political affiliations with mute meek unshaken allegiance.

It truly has become fake news and it’s very disappointing

Re: Faith in the US media
I believe we can just label everything on TV/other media Fake News and be done with it. That's the lazy way out.
I believe we need to scrutinize and try and separate the wheat from the chaff.
Some TV talking heads are so biased you can practically see the spittle flying when they're talking about Trump. Shame they still have jobs in supposedly reputable networks.
At some point this will have to come to a head and get resolved, because unfortunately we all don't own time-warp vehicles, where we can project ourselves into where news is being made so we can come to our own conclusions.
For now we'll just have to use our own super-powers of discernment.

My man tits, when the former CIA Director comes on a major network and numerous times says there are mountains of evidence to prove collusion. When the head of the FBI releases info to the media for his own agenda to manipulate the press. When the NYT has to make retraction over retraction it is fake manufactured bullshit that we have been fed for two years straight. Was it a mistake or a lie. Either way it was all fake. The term fake news is dismissed primarily by the same media organizations that deficated this out. They are saying the same thing you are saying. Sorry my man tits but fake news is exactly what it is. If you wish to call it something else go ahead but that which is not real is fake. I can’t make it anymore clear.

Re: Faith in the US media
Fake fake fake fake fake fake fake fake fake fake fake fake. I’m pissed as I had to listen to this fake ass shit for two years. People say trump is thin skinned etc bullshit he dealt with this fake fake fake onslaught for two years without having the CIA whack a few people. I would have sent a seal team into CNN

Re: Faith in the US media
Fake called by any other name is still just as fake

Hey bro, I get your anger. It's probably the 4 straight posts that tipped me off.
I get that Trump was vindicated by the Mueller report. I get it that Republicans are dancing in the streets while Democrats are crying in their soup.
I guess we're not talking about the same thing here.
I'm talking about the popular narrative nowadays that EVERY NEWS on TV is Fake News.
WTF are we supposed to believe then?
Think about it.
If you can broad brush everything saying it's Fake News and move on.... where do we turn to for clarity and facts?
Or...... is that being too much of a melt?

What about CNN and their attacks on the schoolkid who did nothing wrong with the Native Indian chap? Or the Iraq War? Big or small, there is a CNN false narrative to back it up.

It’s crazy, we talk about conspiracy theories and laugh at them when we are living in one.

Ah yes..... the Iraq War. The one where Georgie went after those godawful WMD's.
Don't know who's worse. The slanted media, or the useless politicians we're lately choosing to run the country.

I consider many of them to be useful idiots. Take Theresa May, could you honestly imagine her actually functioning well in any real job? As a cleaner, as a teacher, as a writer? As anything? She is just a silly hag with a bunch of inept advisors just buying time for goodness knows what. What does she actually stand for? What does she actually believe in? Is there anything there as an actual person? I am not sure there is. It's the Blair/Cameron disease. You see the same with Trudeau, with Macron, with Merkel. These are shallow, banal, and pointless people. It is no coincidence that it is the same in every nation. Trump seems to be a little bit 'different', but I don't see a wall or controlled immigration.

Out of the thousands of articles written about the Russia investigation only a handful have been proved wrong and it's been the media outlets who published them who came out and retracted them. There's nobody publishing intentionally fake news. To take one incident for example, the Trump tower meeting with the Russians. First this was angrily denied by the Trump people and Trump Junior in particular. Fake news, witch hunt etc. Their story changed three times in three days and eventually the NYT told Trump Junior they has emails proving his having taken part. They asked him for comment, he told them to hang on for an hour and then he published the emails himself on twitter and congratulated himself for histransparency. We later learned that trump senior had dictated the very first angry denial, telling an outright lie to the American public.
There has been a tremendous amount of accurate reporting on the Russia investigation that has been proved by events. We still have to wait for the report to become public in one way or another to find out the extent of the whole thing but by then unfortunately it'll be old news and nobody will care. Still, seventeen ongoing investigations into regular everyday crimes that the public can understand are all down to evidence Mueller produced and then passed off to other FBI offices to investigate. This is a guy who robbed his own charity ffs and has been banned from running a charity again along with his kids. There's a lot more to come eventually.

Re: Faith in the US media
If there are more investigations to come then I guess we're in for the same BS we've been subjected to for two years. In some ways one Presidential term isn't really a long time when you think about it. It's pretty obvious Trump will not be impeached. If there was something "impeachable" against Trump, the Dems and media would've dragged it out already and it would be over with.
To me it's a combination of the Dems intense dislike for Trump, which ironically has kept them from concentrating on the important issues. The battle seems to be who can defeat Trump in 2020 rather than who is the best candidate period. The other half of the coin is Trump himself, incredibly divisive and cunningly using this divisiveness to his advantage. So we have Trump and his enemies alternating between offense and defense, with the Mueller report being the political equivalent of a missed 3-point shot. Still.... with their insistence on having the whole report made public, they're hoping for that offensive rebound and put back for at least 2 points.
What could be four years of sustainable growth and progress, not only economically, but socially and other areas like immigration control, the environment, energy and the infrastructure.... has devolved into a 3-ring circus where the Dems have lost sight of the country's needs as they try with all their might to take Trump down. Trump meanwhile revels in the battle, playing defense and switching to offense..... he lives for this kind of shit.
I've never seen a POTUS where the opposite sides are so frustratingly extreme and unyielding in their viewpoints. It's comical and tragic at the same time. Bottom line is few useful things get done what with all the backbiting, attacking, defending, countless investigations, etc.
What we'll probably see is Trump's opposition FINALLY find something on Trump they can use..... just in time for the next election. What a sham.
-
Re: Faith in the US media
Some politicians are making nice careers out of Trump's presidency. Just listening to the oversight committee heads talk, you can pretty much see "job security" etched across their foreheads. How many more investigations are either in progress or about to be launched?? 15? 20? This is all tax payers' money being used to try to hang this guy, instead of coming up with constructive ideas and platforms for 2020, which will be here before we know it.

The Democrats don't want to impeach Trump. For weeks now they've been ratcheting down the impeachment talk. Pelosi recently said he isn't worth impeaching. They want to run against a wounded trump in 2020 rather than nice boring Mike Pence and four percent unemployment.
The public agree with the Democrats over immigration, healthcare, entitlements and the environment. Which is why it's so difficult to do any deals with Trump. Don't hold your breath.
You've never seen a situation where both sides were so partisan? You're not old enough to remember the nineties then. The head of the GOP intelligence committee holding an outdoor press conference to shoot a watermelon with his personal firearm to demonstrate how he believed Hillary Clinton had shot somebody in the head.

Oh I remember the 90's. It's not partisanship I object to. It's the depths we've descended to. Dems literally using their entire terms to wage a battle against Trump. Some of them have even begun to see the light publicly, saying they (Dems) should concentrate on the issues rather than on bringing down Trump. It's falling on deaf ears for some, though.
As far as Pelosi's comment, when I first heard it, it sounded like a sour grapes comment you'd hear at a playground. Sad to see high profile politicos sinking to the same personal depths as Trump.
You may be right about the impeachment talk being ratcheted down. Still..... Trump has them playing into his hands, for as long as they keep making this term about "getting Trump", they're gonna be caught with their pants down come 2020.

The new dem radicals certainly want to impeach trump. Pelosi is trying to maintain and strategize. Investigations will continue as they have they jus need to adjust the narrative. They are doing so successfully with the obstruction thing which even master in England is grasping. You bring up the Clinton’s, they hired private investigators to dig up dirt on the Starr team. Documents removed from fosters office. But no obstruction. I never believed The Clintons killed anyone but the suicides amongst staff were quite odd.

The Democrats control one branch of government. They can't get any legislation passed at all. They can conduct oversight which is what they're doing. Impeachment isn't on the agenda. Not one of the dozen or so 2020 candidates is talking about impeachment. It's not going to happen.

They did used to fight integration and were responsible for Jim Crow and all the rest of it. The entire south used to reliably vote Democrat in every election. The southern states are a sea of unbroken blue on every election map of the fifties and sixties. But then the Democrats signed the Civil Rights bill and told all their politicians to get on board or get out of the party. The GOP saw a huge opening here and became the party of white racism and now the south votes reliably red in every election.

Oh I seem to recall that. I guess you don’t know the details cause LBJ pulled a fast one to get that one signed in the south. You may not be aware but LBJ said if we pass this bill we will have the blacks voting for us for the 100 years. Although he didn’t use the word blacks. So nice try Kirk but your take on US history is a bit off. Go to the Brexit thread I’m sure you have that perfect

Who do you find reliable or at least not make your head hurt. CNN and MSNBC just took a big ratings hit due to all the false BS they portray. I find fox ok but I mainly watch the business news for stock info. For the past two years when I watched CNN it was 24/7 all the proof that Trump collided with Russia and how mueller would have everyone in the White House in handcuffs

So nice try Kirk but your take on US history is a bit off. Go to the Brexit thread I’m sure you have that perfect
What he actually said when he signed the bill was to the effect that the Democratic party just lost the south for a generation. Or fifty years or something like that. Turns out it's going to be longer than fifty years. Getting ten percent of the country to vote for you at the expense of the eighty odd percent white majority at the time doesn't seem to me like a smart political move. And it wasn't! It was the right and moral thing to do though.
I don't want to know about the Brexit thread. It looks likeit's going to be the biggest self inflicted economic disaster any country has ever managed to achieve.

Here are some actual facts on the whole thing. Graphs and everything. This is a good read:

Have to say speaking of cnn etc. I actually have come to the point where I don't mind Chris Cuomo at all. Couldn't stand him at first when show debuted but as far as 'fair' and substantive on that network he is apart from the others. On MSNBC maybe I can catch some of Williams but Giraffe neck and Chris Hayes forget about it. Fox can be some patronizing whory apple polishers..namely Hannity..but I'll watch Neil Cavuto and actually miss Bill O'Reilly.

Could not agree more. All media are liars on a scale not seen since the days of Hitler. they had nothing on Trump. What is not being reported that this also clears Putin. Let's remember it was Hillary Clinton who was attacking Putin. When it comes to lying Hillary Clinton is the Heavyweight Champion of the world. As I said before my beef with Fox is making the working class as some lazy piece of shit while rich are suffering. They can barely make it. And yes people believe it.

Ah, giraffe neck :-X. Just go watch her for 2 minutes and you'll start expecting her to start foraging through tree tops.
