He was good enough to batter Beyer (as did Kessler!!! Whoooooooooo hoooooo!!!!)...he was good enough to stand toe to toe with Joe...
Before ripping Joe's performance...youv'e got two options that you should really consider above all else.
#1: Not you, not Wacko, not anyone really knows how good Bika actually is...do they? Apparently Calzaghe does.
#2: Calzaghe's come this far...& it hasn't been based just on luck. It's a shame to hear everyone rip into him.
Not that Bika was a challenge of challenges...but Calzaghe suffers from "Mayweather Syndrome".
No matter who he beats, how he wins, & what titles or belts adorn him people will always scorn him.
You know what. Maybe Calzaghe wouldn't be come down so hard if all them if all them Calzaghe fans weren't hyping this guy to beat Roy and Hopkins and everything else because of his victory against Jeff Lacy ::** He was sio hyped up beyond belief OVER LACY!!! And now that its been shown how overhyped he was made you talk about 'nobody knows how good Bika is'
I may as well say that of the guy that Zab fought(right after the Spinks fight) I may as well say "No one knows how good he really is" ::**
Please! If you still think Calzaghe could hang with the likes of Jones and Hopkins you're dreaming. And trying to upgrade Bika like he's the next second coming to Calzaghe is insulting. As good as ya'll hyped Calzaghe to be and now you're saying Bika is soo good I guess he could beat James Toney then right? ::**
So if somebody thinks that Calzaghe could beat a shadow of his former self Roy Jones they're dreaming ???
Yeah I don't think he would have a chance against the Roy that fought Glen Johnson or that fought the third Tarver fight. Not a chance, that Roy's just too dominant.

So were just going on one fight? I've seen enough Calzaghe fights to know he fought last night like he fights against a lot of guys that aren't even relatively big names. Cocky, hands down, taking unneccessary risks, he didn't fight with the same focus he did against Lacy and which he would against another bigger name. And Johnson has stopped like 4 or 5 guys in his last 20 fights, he couldn't even stop Richard Hall, why he would stop a guy like Joe who has a good chin is beyond me. And Tarver would have to stop him, with him getting old and probably too big for the weight he'd probably be too sluggish to win a decision.
I just haven't seen anything from Roy since the second Tarver fight to make me think he can compete at a high level anymore, the Badi Ajamu fight just didn't do much for me, Rico Hoye won 9 rounds against Ajamu. And I don't see him winning a decision cause of his habit that he's picked up of laying against the ropes, covering up and not throwing much. If he was gunshy against Johnson's pressure I would think he wouldn't be much better against the much more active pressure of Calzaghe. A stoppage win would be the most likely for Jones and I don't see that as extremely likely.
I'd probably favor Hopkins though.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Calzaghe vs Bika
I see a similarity here between Calzaghe and Leenox Lewis. When Lewis needed to he dominated his top class opposition but took his eyes of the ball twice against B or C grade opposition and paid the price.
When he needed to prove himself though he was impeccable.
Calzaghe is much the same. Those of you who think he would fight the same way against Hopkins or Tarver are just delusional.
An A grade fighter oftentime needs A grade opponents to really step it up. Look at Eubank or James Toney, they both had/have a history of struggling and failing to look good against so called soft opposition.
The major difference being that Calzaghe despite his lapses has never lost.

It might be easier to do so when he gets beat by somebody ... anybody. Since he ain't been yet, anything can be said. Don't means it's true, just that it's not demonstrably untrue, and so can be said.
Of course, even when their fighter loses, they can do the Sal and Judah show. ;D

Know what I mean?
You mean you think he's still a bit green, being at the beginning of his career like he is, and he may one day develop into a superb fighter when/if he learns some defensive skills? So he needs to fight some journeymen for a while before he steps up to fight the greats, so he has time to learn? That what you mean? :P
I actually meant that Kess needs to get his defense working before getting thrown in with Joe.
Might have put the names in the wrong place... :drunks:
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Calzaghe vs Bika
I admit when I'm wrong, so I should admit when I'm right.
Knew Calzaghe's performance won't be no where near as good as the Lacy performance.
Calzaghe fighting down to the level of opponents? Only you can answer that.
I still say YES. heheh

You know what. Shit like this is aggrevating.
Quite often...you cry about people trying to twist your words & say that you said this & they said that you said that...I'm not overhyping Lacy, Calzaghe, or Bika.
You ran with that Bika shit. I simply said no one knows how good Bika is/was. He put a hurting on Beyer & he also gave Joe some troubles. Joe is undefeated in 42 fights now & he's a hell of a fighter...I have always said that...before Lacy. The funny thing is...I make a statement & you say that I am hyping or over hyping...I'm simply conversating...not trying to give you grounds to disprove every word that I type.
Bika did good against Beyer, he did good against Joe, & I think that it's fair to give Bika some credit & the benefit of the doubt...boxing fans often do that. They speculate on fights & that often brings enjoyment to the game. Seems like, more & more lately...youv'e forgotten how to do that, instead you try to chop up everyone's opinions. What's the deal with that?
Either way...Lacy, Kessler, & Calzaghe & quite possibley Bika are the cream of the 168 crop at the moment.

You might as well not say shit about Judah...we all know how good he is...the problem with Judah is that he's to retarded to notice his own abilities.

That really is quite ridiculous.
Lately...I almost wonder if youv'e let someone else take over your screen name.
I haven't tried to upgrade Bika...but if you watched the fight...you saw him fighting...you saw him hanging in with the best at 168 & I am sure you saw him run the full 12. What's funny about you lately is that you are guilty of what you accuse others of doing to you.
So the fact that I say that Calzaghe is one of my favorites (alongside Hops, Jones, Wright, Floyd, & the rest of the list) but I recognize the fact that Bika did well against him equates to hyping & overhyping & all that other bullshit you try to cook up?
What has happened to you?
I said that Bika did good against two of the tops in 168...one of those two tops (let's be clear here...I mean Beyer) wasn't all that...you ran with the rest of that & then brought in James Toney.
Let's discuss things that are relevant...all this reaching & struggling bullshit that your'e pulling is getting old. Calzaghe has had a few bad nights. He's been knocked down...but he's gotten up & he's then defeated the man that dropped him.
Roy Jones has been knocked out twice...but Tarver & Johnson...I think that if I want to speculate that Calzaghe would defeat Jones...I wouldn't be too far in the wrong...but if I am...it's my choice to speculate...& for the record...YES JOE CALZAGHE WOULD BEAT THE JONES OF TODAY.
Still not sure what the output of Calzaghe against Hopkins would be.
Hopkins Calzaghe would be one hell of a fight...I know that much...but I probably shouldn't even have spoken...as I am sure you know the exact outcome.
Again...I just understand the bitterness. ::**

Its unlikely he would do this against Kessler. As Calzaghe said before the Lacy fight. He can box or brawl, he is able to give us a different performance depending upon the opponent...
As simple as really...it aint rocket science...
Very well said...pertains to a lot of the dismissing of Calzaghe on this thread.

JT...I'm not sure that Calzaghe's fans are saying that he's a world beater...every man can be beaten.
I'm sure when you were riding high on Lacy that you didn't see anyone within miles that could be him...did you? Be honest.
I really don't need to ask for an answer because I am sure that you thought Lacy was a world beater, yourself.
I know that I did.
Problem is...what's good for the goose is good for the gander...
Joe had a tuff night...he didn't get hammered into submission, he didn't get knocked out, he didn't get dropped, & he managed to get his shots off & he kept his title.
We all know that none of the above pertains to Lacy...so I can understate you being slightly bitter...but the facts are that Joe is the real deal & he has been for 42 fights now.
Rest assured...when or if Joe loses everyone will low ball him just like they did when Jeff Lacy got his ass handed to him & you can jump right on that boat...until then...just enjoy the performances. ;D
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Calzaghe vs Bika
nevertheless wacko, I'm not sure if you remember that I told you that Calzaghe would look irdinary in his next fight(bet you a month of coolclicks too)
But you saying that Calzaghe could beat Roy, could beat Hopkins and things like that is just ab it much for that one win over Lacy. Asking you before the Lacy fight would you have picked Calzaghe to beat Roy OR Hopkins?

Yes you did say that...& I have clicked you already for it.
The thing is...I didn't think that he looked ordinary...I just thought that Bika put up a hell of a fight & from the head butt cut on...Joe just couldn't be Joe.
I'm sure you disagree there...but we won't delve in to that one.

Let's do clear this up though. I have had my beliefs in Joe before the Lacy fight...so that little slap don't apply to me...but still...since you need detailed explanations to pick apart.
Roy Jones vs Calzaghe: I have always said that Joe could beat Roy...it that's a bit much for you...then I hate it. Once Roy fwocked his body over the Ruiz debacle...he's been...well...not Roy. Also...if Tarver & Johnson with their mediocre spurts of talent can destroy Jones...then yeah...it aint a stretch for me to believe that Joe Calzaghe could be Roy. Many people rip into Joe's record...but there are just as many laughable names on Jones's record as there are on Joe's. I love Roy. I think that in his day...there was nothing like him...but he lost that first fight to Tarver & he's lost every other fight since except to Prine Huh-boo-boo & if you want to rip into the man Calzaghe just fought...you need to lean in Roy's direction then.
Bernard Hopkins vs Calzaghe: It is no secret that my most favorite fighter of all time is Bernard Hopkins. I have been a Hopkins fan since, lord knows how many years...I've lost track...but I believe that to be a fan...you have to be a realist too. It pays off in the end...if you have your doubts & your guy wins when you thought he couldn't...there's that much more cause for celebration. I've stood by the Nard through everything...from his loss to Jones to his win against Tarver...which I did not believe he would do. Anywho, if Calzaghe shows up determined & focused...I'd give him a shot at beating Hopkins...but I have also stated that I believe Hopkins's jab & defensive technique would negate Joe's power & speed...there again though...I have not & will not pick a winner...I will just say that it could go either way.
Whether you want to give him credit or not...whether you want to say he's over hyped...or whatever...Joe is 42 fights in & he is undefeated...that is all the credit & confirmation needed.
