Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
Not sure if anyone else has touched on this yet or not...but just imagine if Oscar does just go out & hammer Floyd senseless...as impossible as I believe this to be...just imagine the impact that that is going to have on Roach.
Roach will have taken 3 champions to the top & back again.
Roach has coached Toney, Pac, & Oscar through the biggest fights of their games.
Says a hell of a lot for Roach.
Just an outside...probably weak thought...but honestly...if Oscar won...it'd be Roach that coached him through it.
Hell of a record for Roach in the end.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
It ain't impossible ... I'm deciding to believe Oscar will do just that.
in your heart you would like that better than a floyd victory, wacko ... i just know it.

Close babe...very close...but not dead on the point.
Here's what I'd honestly like...a hard fought knockdown drag out fight that ends in a draw.
Both men down...both men on point...a well fought draw. Give & take all night long. Floyd dropping Oscar early...Oscar dropping Floyd late...then a draw. I'm going to be there...all night long...from start to finish & I want to fill up to 400 frame memory cards...I want some good shit on 'em.
Now...if I can't get that draw...which I am sure that I won't...I want Floyd to gut out the fight of his life & win by a thin margin.
You have to understand...I love Oscar. I grew up on Oscar's fights...I love the man.
Thing is...I can say the same of Floyd. Everyone hates Floyd...trust me...I'm a family man...& Floyd is the total opposite of what I am...what I remotely can stand...but in the end...Floyd is everything that I love about boxing. Not just a boxer...but boxing. Floyd is fluidity in the ring. He's fast, he's accurate, & he's stylistically the embodiment of a fundamentally sound fighter...now...before I end up sounding like I'd blow Floyd in some alley...I can't stand Floyd the man either...but I love Floyd the fighter.
Part of me will hate to see Oscar lose...but a bigger part of me would hate to see Floyd lose...rightly or wrongly.
A legit Floyd victory...a blood & all out war...that would mean more in my heart of hearts...I just aint so sure that Floyd can do it...& in the end...if he does...the boxing public that is so sour against him...I seriuosly doubt that they could get sweet to Floyd...no matter what he does...ever.
If Oscar wins...he will have dethroned the P4P king...one of the most accomplished styles in the game...the same won't be said if Floyd wins. That is what I hate most in my heart of hearts...that people can't set aside the mentallity for one night.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
I'm not so anti-Floyd, personally ... true he's harder to like for various reasons. But I am a chess player, and I respect the games that are long and apparently boring and decided on finesses. They only seem dry ... in reality, they are steeped in suspense, and the apparently meaningless move may end up having significant impact later in the game -
Brawls are fun to watch but I have always been more impressed by the scientific approach. Hopkins, Winky, and yes, Floyd.
What I like better about Oscar - apart from the obvious - is that he is a more connected person. His self and his boxing style are integrated. He can talk about perspective and spirituality and boxing in one paragraph and not sound corny. And ... he can talk. He's worth listening to.
Floyd doesn't have that depth of being.
As a sentimentalist, I just go with Oscar.
As a boxing purist (which I only impersonate in rare posts) it doesn't matter who wins, as long as they both show up in top form and the fight isn't a disappointing blow-out because one of them screwed up in mindset or heart or gameplan.
I'd be very happy to see Floyd, in the end, retire undefeated - but that needs to be accompanied by meeting the best opposition in his last couple-three years at the top. Love to see it, actually.
But this time around, I'm hoping that you come home with a camera full of Oscar's shining victory.

Agreed on that entire post pretty much.

Let me say this...it'll be a victory for me PERIOD just to be there & shooting.
Can't wait...& again...a legit win will suit me fine...but I'm more inclined to see Floyd pull it out.
A defeat will be hard HARD HARD for him to handle, IWO.

:goodpost: both.
I'm going to pay a little more attention to your posts after reading that Nut ;) oh and don't worry always pay attention to yours Wackoff ;)
I would be happy to see Floyd win if I new for sure he would fight Hatton (after a Castillo win), Mosley (after a Williams win) and Cotto (after a Judah win). Then I'd be glad to debate his greatness as he retired undefeated but to beat the old bull from horseback and then ride of into the sunset i won't be satisfied.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
I really want to see Oscar pull this off, but its a big longshot IMO. Im just afraid the whole thing is going to be a huge dissappointment. All the hype of a big occasion like this can make people start to believe that the fight is more equally balanced than it really is, in reality Floyd is a heavy favourite and its likely that he'll fight a safe fight, stick and move as someone said earlier. Could be in for a repetitive 12 rounds.
I have a lot of respect for Oscar, he ducked no one and actively sought out the big fights, hope he proves me wrong.
As for Floyd, Im not a hater, IMO he's certainly number 1 p4p right now, but ever since he said this might be his last fight I want him to lose, he still has unfinished business with other fighters and is still young enough to squeeze in a few more big fights.

CC,echoes my thoughts exactly! Anyone seen the sparring vids of Shane and Oscar?? I'll try to put them up.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
Roach is there to hold sparring mitts...thats it.I highly doubt that he knows more about boxing than Oscar.

Jeez, what is your basis for that kind of statement?

Exactly...I've always said that fighters make the trainers name instead of the other way around...but you have to back track & look at Oscar prior to Floyd Sr.
Floyd made a difference down the stretch...only thing here is...I aint so sure that Roach can make a difference physically over the course of one match. Now, had he been there for 4-5 matches...that'd be different.
I think that a trainer adds to a fighters repertoire instead of making the fighter like some people do. The trainer just pulls out some of the latent dormant abilities that said fighter hasn't focused on.
But that's just Wacko's er-pinion.

There is the issue of working the corner during the fight. Roach has to be a little more helpful tactically speaking than Yoel Judah or Jack Mosley. ::**
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
Anyone know if they have decided on a ring size?
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
Why I think Floyd will win.
1. De La Hoya Fights with way too much intensity. He uses a lot of energy in punching. I don't think that he will land many punches on Mayweater due to his speed.
2. Remember the fight with Sweet pea. I don't care what anyone says, sweet pea won that fight. His speed was too much for
De La Hoya.
3. De La Hoya the promoter. I've seen this guy look pretty big and swole up at times. He doesn't fight often and all of his fights are
big money fights. This is not the same De La Hoya that fought Julio Ceaser Chavez. He has been in many battles and has taken some good shots from many fighters.
4. I've never seen Mayweather tired from going many rounds. He seems to have very good stamina. De La Hoya has good stamina, but he seems to get too relaxed at the end of the fight just as he did in his fight with Trinidad.
5. Mayweather can get hit, but it's hard to hit him with consecutive combinations. Kind of reminds me of Ali. Ali would get hit, but you never really saw him get pounded until the fights at the end of his career.
This won't be an easy fight for Mayweather, but I see him winning on points. De La Hoya has power, but I don't think that he will be able to take Mayweather out. I've seen De Lay Hoya in many fights where he could have knocked his opponent out, but he didn't. Mayweather proved to me that he was a GAME boxer in his fight with Zab Judah. He showed all of his skills. He even gave up some early rounds to end up dominating the fight. He frustrates his opponents and I don't think that De La Hoya will be an exception.
For those of you that haven't seen this fight, please watch it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUo3zBkmToo
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round just got owned by YoitsDan!!! Oscar vs Floyd.
I really want DLH to win especially by KO & he does have advantages over Floyd. But I just think Floyd is gonna be to slick. The biggest thing for Floyd for me is his defense, if he gets in a tight spot it will get him out of it.
My hearts wants DLH, my mind says Mayweather by UD
